The process moves forward on General Flynn’s exoneration. On Tuesday Flynn’s former legal defense “found” thousands of documents that they had not forwarded to Flynn’s current defense. In the interview with Lou Dobbs below, Sidney Powell mentions the number 17,500 pages. Now one could understand a document here or there being missed. The deluge of “found” documents suggests something else. Did I mention that Eric Holder is a partner at the former law firm representing Flynn? Hmm…
The following is an interview that Sidney Powell, General Flynn’s current representation, did with Lou Dobbs the other night.
At this point there is no doubt that General Flynn was railroaded by everyone in this case. This includes the DOJ, the FBI and his own former representation. It is the type of justice that one used to find in the old Soviet Union or one can find in China today.
Sidney Powell responds to a question from Lou Dobbs about members of the Obama administration framing Gen. Flynn. Her statement was “There’s no doubt about it.” Powell went on to mention that the operation to frame Gen. Flynn had started long before PDJT was inaugurated.
It is clear to me that Sidney Powell has a case of cold rage. In discussing the exculpatory evidence that the government has just produced last Friday, Powell noted that the government was reviewing the evidence “to make some redactions on those to protect the names of the guilty.”
This woman is appalled at what was done to Gen. Flynn. Powell referred to the Special Counsel’s staff as the Mueller Hit Squad and in need of “adult supervision.” To call this a travesty of justice would be like calling the Super Bowl just another football game. In no way is the magnitude of what took place here conveyed by such a statement. As Powell said, “It is beyond an outrage…it is a blight on the face of our entire country.”
On Wednesday, US Attorney Jensen (EDMO) released additional evidence to Flynn’s defense. At the same time he joined Sidney Powell in requesting the judge to unseal all the records. In addition, it now appears that Bill Priestap, former head of the FBI’s counter intelligence division, may be front and center in these activities to frame General Flynn.
Mark Wauck at MIH notes,
So senior officials for the FBI appeared to be conspiring to get General Flynn removed from the Trump administration. Wauck asks,
“When did it become official FBI business to get someone fired? When did that became a legitimate goal of an interview regarding matters outside the FBI’s responsibility?”
When indeed!
A quick summary.
My quick hot takes:
1) They set up a perjury trap but
2) When it didn't catch Flynn, they offered him a deal he couldn't refuse…we'll leave your son alone if you plea to a crime we know you didn't commit. https://t.co/rUB8qSsulr— Margot Cleveland (@ProfMJCleveland) April 29, 2020
More explosive notes and documents are expected to be released in the next few days.
Where does this go from here?
It is clear that this is one part of the conspiracy to overthrow the Presidency of Donald J. Trump. There are court deadlines approaching with regard to motions to withdraw Flynn’s plea as well as providing answers to questions raised in court by all of this.
I am speculating here. Some might say that Barr should dismiss the charges “in the interests of justice.” While I do not disagree, I believe that allowing the judge (Judge Sullivan) to rule that the plea can be withdrawn (that should be a foregone conclusion) is the better approach. Once this happens, charges can be dismissed BY THE JUDGE. They are farcical at this point.
This sidesteps a landmine. If Barr drops the charges, the left will scream that Barr is PDJT’s puppet. With the judge doing it (he’s a Clinton appointee BTW), the left will have difficulty making a big thing out of it. They will try. But, there will be little to mash their teeth around.
Also, keeping the matter open, allows Sidney Powell to keep on exposing to the public the corruption that took place while Comey led the FBI and Bob Mueller led the Hit Squad. Internal investigations tend not to see the light of day. While I do want to see General Flynn exonerated and made whole, I also want the creeps behind this to face justice. I congratulate AG Barr for bringing in people from outside DC to work on these cases.
General Flynn should sue the Covington law firm for malpractice. Attorneys are charged with the zealous representation of their clients. Covington seemed to fall a wee bit short. Just how corrupt/incompetent they were is unclear at this point. My money would be on a quick settlement to avoid the discovery process. Discovery, I am sure, would reveal many things that Covington would not want to be made public.
One last question. How does all of this fit in with John Durham’s investigation? Is this some kind of coordinated strategy on the part of AG Barr to expose criminality to the public before the big hammer drops?
Tick. Tock. For more than two years the media and the Democrats screamed that “the walls were closing in” on PDJT. It now appears that the walls may indeed be closing in on the perpetrators of a conspiracy to overthrow the government of the United States.
Great article…real journalism here. The NYT should take note…
