Twenty four years ago today, on the evening of July 17, 1996, flight TWA 800 crashed off the south shore of Long Island killing all 230 people on board. The crash was witnessed by hundreds of people enjoying a warm summer evening outdoors. In all, the FBI interviewed more than 700 witnesses. These agents included members of the FBI’s missile team. They determined that well more than 100 witnesses were considered excellent. The evidence for a missile strike was considered to be overwhelming.
Jack Cashill has written two authoritative books on this subject. The books can be found here and here. Today Cashill has published another article over at American Thinker that summarizes the info about the crash.
Much of the country (but not airline pilots) believe that an explosion in a center fuel tank on the airliner was the cause of the crash. This was the result of the “investigation” after four years. This is still the officially-stated cause of the crash. Despite this conclusion, no Boeing 747 was ever grounded as a result. Why?
Cashill summarizes what took place and the role of the NYTimes in creating a work of fiction regarding the crash. The Democrats have talked about “collusion” regarding PDJT’s win in 2016. To those who have followed the TWA 800 story, there is little doubt about the role of the NYTimes in the 1996 election campaign. They supported Bill Clinton for President all the way. Whether this could be considered collusion or not is up to the reader.
Cashill’s article:
The New York Times Has Been Ridiculous for a Long Time
The much discussed resignation letter from New York Times op-ed editor Bari Weiss was written in the metaphorical equivalent of Braille. It allowed even the blind to see what the rest of us have known for years: the Times is a joke.
Writes Weiss of the Times newsroom, “Truth isn’t a process of collective discovery, but an orthodoxy already known to an enlightened few whose job is to inform everyone else.” Indeed, the only difference between the Times and the old Soviet Pravda is that Pravda readers knew they were being lied to.
If I had to pick a date that the joke started to become obvious, I would pick July 17, 1996, twenty-four years ago today, the day TWA flight 800, a Boeing 747, crashed off the coast of Long Island, killing all 230 good souls aboard.
As I heard from several reporters who covered this story, the New York Times owned it. The FBI channeled virtually all new information through the Times, and the Times reported that information very close to uncritically.
