Judge Barrett’s Reference Notes

During the confirmation hearings on Tuesday, Senator John Cornyn (R-TX) asked the judge what reference notes she might be using while answering detailed and specific legal questions from the committee.

“You know most of us have multiple notebooks and books and other things like that in front of us. Can you hold up what you’ve been referring to in answering our questions?” Cornyn asked Barrett.

Judge Barrett held up a blank notepad and smiled.

“Is there anything on that?” Cornyn asked.

Barrett responded: “Just a letterhead that says United States Senate.”

This was a great photo op moment for the judge.  I am certain the Senator knew there was nothing on the pad.  The Senator gave the judge an alley-oop pass and she slam dunked it in front of the nation.  This just reminds us of how smart she is.  Judge Barrett has been answering legal questions coming her way off the cuff.  Barrett may be the most qualified person to sit at one of these hearings in a long time.

Barrett is so exceedingly qualified for this position that it’s obvious the only ones with an agenda are those who vote against her confirmation.  The Democrats must tread very carefully here or they will alienate more soccer moms who undoubtedly see Barrett as a great example of the female gender.
