When the left said that they were coming for your guns, they meant it. A massive Democratic gun-control plan would require weapon owners and their family members to undergo “psychological evaluations.” Wrong thinking has now been entered on the Washington scene for purposes of criminalization. Wrong thinking will result in the loss of your guns under proposed legislation.
The Democrats are working very quickly to obliterate the 1st and 2nd Amendments. The Democrats believe they do not have to worry about blowback from the people since they think they have now mastered the art of election fraud. No longer will the “deplorables” mess up their plans for a totalitarian state.
Democratic Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee introduced a bill that would enact the strictest gun regulations in the history of the country and give the federal government sweeping power to decide who can own a firearm.
Individuals who apply for a federal gun license would be ordered to undergo “a psychological evaluation.” That evaluation would also be extended to “other members of the household in which the individual resides … any spouse of the individual, any former spouse of the individual, and at least 2 other persons who are a member of the family of, or an associate of, the individual to further determine the state of the mental, emotional, and relational stability of the individual in relation to firearms.”
In other words, the federal government will allow people they like to have a firearm and will deny a firearm to anyone who disagrees with the party line.
In New Mexico the Democrats have introduced a bill that would criminalize parents who teach their children how to shoot a weapon.
State Bill 224, states in part:
A minor may be an authorized user only if the minor is at least twelve years of age and has successfully completed a firearm safety training course.
The New Mexico Shooting Sports Association (NMSSA) warned that the “storage mandate” in the bill “would make it a crime for a child to handle your firearm unless the child was 12 or older and had previously completed a firearms safety class,” as the PinonPost reported.
“You would become a criminal for taking your child to go shooting if they had not previously taken some kind of formal class,” NMSSA said. “The bill is an uneducated attempt to demonize firearms … It is already a crime to place a child in a situation that endangers their life, this law does nothing to add to a child’s safety.”
Once again, the government is demonizing parents as being unconcerned about their child’s safety. The implication in this bill is that parents are incapable of teaching their child how to safely handle a firearm. Only the government can do that for your child.
In President Biden’s first month in office, another 2 million NICS checks were performed for the sale of a gun, the most ever recorded in a January. So far in the last 13 months, nine out of the top 10 weeks for NICS checks were recorded.
Americans don’t want gun control. They want their personal safety and their right to protect themselves. The Democrats are singing from yesteryear’s songbook. They’re out of tune with everyday Americans when it comes to guns.
What’s next? Will the government prohibit taking your child to religious services unless the child has taken a formal religious safety training class? Oh, I forgot. In some states the government is already prohibiting religious service attendance under the smokescreen of protecting the public.
This is how liberties guaranteed under the Bill of Rights are eviscerated.
