Humanist of the Year

Where is Dr. Fauci?  He seemingly has disappeared from the public view.  In one sense this is not surprising given the recent exposition of all his lies.  This came as a result of an FOIA request.  Big Media has aided in this suppression of news about Dr. Fauci by simply ignoring the story.  Still, these damaging revelations have leaked out and created a need to rehabilitate Dr. Fauci’s image.  Along comes the American Humanist Association (AHA) to bestow their 2021 Humanist of the Year Award on Dr. Fauci.

Wikipedia notes:

Humanism … refers to a perspective that affirms some notion of human freedom and progress. It views humanity as responsible for the promotion and development of individuals, espouses the equal and inherent dignity of all human beings, and emphasizes a concern for humans in relation to the world.

In the 20th century and beyond, humanist movements are typically non-religious movements aligned with secularism, and today humanism may refer to a nontheistic life stance centered on human agency and looking to science and reason rather than revelation from a supernatural source to understand the world.

There is an implication here that science and reason cannot coexist with religion.  Of course, that simply is not true regardless of how many times it is said.

The announcement:

The AHA Thursday that Dr. Anthony S. Fauci is its 2021 Humanist of the Year. Fauci is chief medical adviser to President Joe Biden and has been director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases at the U.S. National Institutes of Health since 1984. Fauci played a pivotal role in advocating for evidence-based solutions in the global fight against COVID-19.

This is an outright lie.  Dr. Fauci stood in the way of evidence-based solutions when he refused to advocate for hydroxychloroquine (HCQ) and Ivermectin as safe and effective treatments for COVID-19.  He did this despite his own pronouncements during the previous SARS epidemic that chloroquine was an effective drug against the SARS virus.

The announcement continued:

Humanist of the Year is the highest honor awarded by the AHA and will be given to Fauci at the organization’s 80th annual conference on July 24-25. Previous recipients include Carl Sagan (1981), Kurt Vonnegut (1992) and Gloria Steinem (2012).

“Dr. Fauci embodies humanist values, including his steadfast commitment to science, his demonstrated empathy and compassion for others and his overall direct approach,” AHA Executive Director Roy Speckhardt told Religion News Service in an interview. “He has demonstrated how powerful science and human values can be in saving lives over the past year. If there was ever an appropriate humanist of the year, he is it.”

This is just BS.  Dr. Fauci did not save lives during the past year.  By downplaying, denigrating and otherwise poohpoohing the work of frontline doctors, Fauci created a situation where many lives were lost that could have been saved.

Fauci likes to talk about science as a continually learning situation.  That, as we learn from the real world, our approaches may need to be modified.  However, in this case he chose to ignore the results being seen on the frontlines.  This is where the rubber meets the road so to speak.  The real world was telling us what worked and what didn’t.  Fauci chose to ignore all info regarding safe, generic drugs that worked.

Relating my own family’s experience, we had a family member come down with a serious case of COVID.  Because the obstacles that Fauci put in the way of news about treatments and the piling on of Big Media in support of suppressing that information, the doctor said there was no treatment and to go home sweat it out.  If it got bad, go to the hospital.  It took more than a month for the family member to recover.  That did not have to be the case.

One person I spoke with about this award compared it to President Obama receiving the Nobel Peace Prize.  There are certainly elements of truth in that.  However, it is a lot worse than doing nothing to get an award.  In this case Fauci is receiving an award supposedly for helping to save lives. Actually, he was responsible for impeding such saving of lives.  How many lives were lost because effective treatment news was suppressed?  This is George Orwell’s 1984 reality.  Up is down. Night is day.  Evil is good.  Etc.

Fauci appeared to have one goal and that was to help Big Pharma.  HCQ and Ivermectin don’t make Big Pharma a lot of money.  Novel vaccines do.

I wonder who at the AHA made the decision to grant this award at this time or if the decision was made by the AHA at all.  This has all the characteristics of the oligarchies that run this country stepping in to save a member of their inner circle from public scrutiny.
