Back in the run-up to the 2018 elections the Democrats were given marching orders not to talk about impeachment. They said that they were going to return “civility” to Washington. Talking about impeachment would have indicated that the Democrats were lying when they promised “civility.”
Nancy Pelosi led this effort. “Well, I think when we win, you will see evidence of that. Because when we do win, we will have, as we open the new Congress, we will honor the vows of our founders, E pluribus unum, from many one,” Pelosi said. “It’s OK to disagree in the marketplace of ideas, that’s exciting, but it is also important to find solutions that unify and not divide.”
Keep in mind that this was coming from a woman who was the leader of the Democrats in the House throughout the Obama administration. For 8 years all the Democrats did was try to divide the country. They attempted to pit one group against another. It was whites vs blacks. Straights vs gays. Christians vs Muslims. And so on.
Now that they are a majority in the House have they followed through on their promise to unify, to work together to find solutions in the marketplace of ideas? Are they trying to govern? Are they trying to make America united again? The short answer is “Absolutely not.”
As soon as the election was over, they set out to plan how to get rid of the President of the United States. They scripted a plan that would lead to impeachment. This wasn’t done because PDJT is guilty of a crime. It is being done because he won the 2016 election. It is being done because PDJT is fulfilling his campaign promises. And the Dems cannot allow that to continue.
As Rep. Jim Jordan noted PDJT is hated in Washington precisely because he is keeping his promises, because he cares about all the people in the country, because he owes his Presidency to no one but the people.
Last week saw stage 2 of the impeachment narrative. Stage 1 occurred when Rep. Adam Schiff went on a Sunday morning TV show to drag out the tired Russia Collusion Narrative. This is going nowhere and Schiff knows this. However, he was priming the pump for stage 2.
For the stage 2 the best the Dems could do was drag convicted perjurer Michael Cohen in to testify. Who was he convicted of lying to under oath? Congress, of course. It was the first time in history that a person who had been convicted of lying to Congress was brought back to lie again. And, according to House Republicans, he lied at least half a dozen times that can be proven.
But the Dems needed him. They needed him to name names in an open session of Congress as being at least suspicious if not criminal in their activities. This provides the cover for the Dems to launch additional investigations. It is alleged that Cohen only agreed to do this when the prosecutors threatened to imprison his wife for decades because she had co-signed a loan where fraud was alleged. This brings us to stage 3.
These investigations were “standing by” waiting to be announced. House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerrold Nadler wasted no time in continuing the witch-hunt into President Donald Trump’s administration, businesses, and family on Monday morning. More than 80 individuals and entities were sent requests for documents so that the Dems can continue their fishing expedition.
Once again the Dems are projecting their own vices onto a Republican, in this case PDJT. The scandals that were endemic to the Obama administration certainly covered all the bases above. It is speculated that such corruption reached into the highest levels of the Obama administration. The Dems are trying to distract the public from this fact particularly with the Mueller investigation into the fake Russia collusion narrative ending.
Some on the left may see that investigation as a failure. However, the elite Dems know that Mueller was quite successful at shielding corrupt members of the DOJ, FBI and other agencies from being prosecuted for what they did. Those involved in attempting to rig the election would be facing serious jail time.
I am sure that this new “civility” in Washington will continue throughout the spring and probably the summer. Eventually the Dems will feel they have a case for presenting articles of impeachment. What they will conjure up to do this is anybody’s guess.
This is all about trying to win the White House in 2020. The Dems know they cannot win on the issues. So they are falling back on Saul Alinsky’s playbook and trying to smear anyone who is in their way.
Such “civility” we can do without.
