On Thursday, Rep. Devin Nunes, R-CA, notified the Justice Department of criminal referrals, targeting individuals tied to the origins of the Trump-Russia investigation. As indicated previously, the origins of the investigation are where sunlight is needed. This avoids the corrupt officials being able to say that they were “just doing their job to protect the country.”
In a brief letter, Nunes informs Attorney General William Barr he and Rep. John Ratcliffe, R-TX, want to schedule a meeting to discuss eight criminal referrals, which are ready for consideration, as part of the House Intelligence Committee’s lengthy examination of alleged misconduct during the Russia collusion probe.
This follows Nunes’ interview with Sean Hannity on Sunday. During the interview Nunes outlines the origin of Spygate. It began in 2015 and extended into 2016.
Partial transcript:
“Well Sean, let’s just, let me make it as clear as I possibly can. Okay, and now, thank God, we have an attorney general who calls spying for what it is.”
“In late 2015, early 2016, spying began on the Trump campaign.”
“That information leaked; that led to, what they consider to be, “legal spying” that began, that they’ve acknowledged that they started doing in the end of July; you just had Carter Page on; they considered that all “legal spying.”
“They then leaked that information, right, shortly after the election all through the spring that was leaking out; why? To create a narrative that Donald Trump shouldn’t have been President that he’s a Russian asset, etc. etc. So ‘spying’ and ‘leaking’”.
“Then you have the culmination of the ultimate spying, where you have the FBI Director spying on the president, taking notes, illegally leaking those notes of classified information; why? So they could appoint a special counsel to spy on an acting president again. So there’s a lot of spying and a lot of leaking, and that’s as clear as I can put it.”
Nunes placed the referrals into three categories. There were “straight-up referrals,” covering individuals whose “crimes are lying to Congress, misleading Congress, leaking classified information.” The other categories included “charges of conspiracy to lie to the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court” and a “global leak referral.”
What’s next? The Democrats will try to make the narrative to be about political retaliation by Republicans. Or they will try to distract the public with some other tactic like insinuating that the Trump tax returns or the full Mueller Report are hiding malfeasance that should lead to impeachment, their favorite word since regaining control of the House.
However, once it can be proven spying began in late 2105 via illegal NSA queries, then it’s game over. It is time to declassify completely the FISA judge’s report on this aspect of the story.
Batten down the hatches. There is a storm coming.
