This story was one of many stories circulating near the end of June about riots, protesting, etc. Most of the stories in the MSM were depicting all these events as being mostly peaceful.
In Madison, Wisconsin, a mob tore down two statues and assaulted a white Democrat state lawmaker. They beat the guy up pretty badly. Why? Because he was using his cell phone to record what was happening. Then the mob went to a government building, squirted lighter fluid on it and set the building on fire after waving around a Molotov cocktail. The Department of Justice has released a grainy, hard-to-see photograph of the firebombing attack. There’s even a photo of a person squirting the barbecue starter fluid on the building. This happened at 1:00 AM.
Interestingly enough, at the exact same time, one Althea Bernstein was driving around Madison. According to ABC News, Ms. Bernstein is an 18-year-old, half-black, half-Jewish nursing student. Bernstein stopped her car at a red light. Her window was rolled down and a car pulled up next to her.
Bernstein says she heard someone yell the ‘N’ word at and looked to see four white men in the car next to her. She described them to police as “classic Wisconsin frat boys” – two were dressed in all black and two were dressed in Hawaiian shirts. One of these racists then squirted Ms. Bernstein in the face with barbecue starter fluid and the men threw a lighter at her, setting the side of her face on fire. The hospital confirmed that the fluid appeared to be barbecue lighter fluid.
Of course, as soon as her story got out, Bernstein became a media darling. Bernstein made the obligatory appearance on Good Morning America. Celebrities by the boatload were in contact with her publicist. Yes, her publicist. Today everyone who is the supposed victim of a racist attack must have a publicist.
Now which story seems more likely?
Is it the one where four, drunk, white frat boys decide to set someone on fire? Or is it the one where Ms. Bernstein’s face was accidently set on fire while participating in an attempt to burn a government building down using barbecue lighter fluid? What would you have said when you got to the hospital and were asked how your face got burned?
Oh, this was the night that the governor called out the National Guard because of the “unrest” in Madison. And the DOJ is offering $5000 reward for info about the attempted arson. What will Ms. Bernstein’s answer be when the FBI asks her where the lighter is that set her face on fire? Such a lighter I am sure, would have some fingerprints on it from the drunk, white male who threw it.
It certainly appears that the media may be charging full steam ahead with another hoax hate crime.
