Father we pray whoever is elected will arise to their finest hour, knowing You are the source of their success.
Good government, Father, is your will; we pray that you will expose all those who oppose Your will. We pray You expunge all those who are self-seeking, proud, and evil in Your sight.
Father, we pray against the breakdown of laws that are set in place with our Constitution. We pray against anarchy by those opposing our candidate or the results of the election, and remember that our republic is based on the concept of the greater good for all. We recall that rule of law is founded on your law and regulations You gave to us, and which are designed to promote our physical, moral, and spiritual welfare.
We pray for truth and honor to be established. We pray against poor communications, or anything that would hinder righteousness and justice in our government. We pray for equality and freedom to be established for all, removing prejudice and favoritism.
For Christians there is one response that we must not take if our candidate won; we cannot gloat! And if our candidate lost, we must guard against despair. There are many after elections who are in shock, hurting, and even angry. It is up to the Church to lead the way to bring healing and reconciliation, but first we the church must lay aside all ungodly and unrighteous attitudes. We must continue to humble ourselves, pray, seek God’s face and turn from wickedness, so that God will hear, forgive and heal our land.
Amen.
