Another Media Hoax

Late last week America was treated to another media hoax.  Station KFOR in Oklahoma ran a piece where a rural doctor claimed that patients were taking horse de-wormer, Ivermectin (IVM), in such quantities that emergency rooms and ambulances were being deluged with overdose cases.

“There’s a reason you have to have a doctor to get a prescription for this stuff, because it can be dangerous.”

Dr. McElyea said patients are packing his eastern and southeastern Oklahoma hospitals after taking ivermectin doses meant for a full-sized horse, because they believed false claims the horse de-wormer (IVM) could fight COVID-19.

“The ERs are so backed up that gunshot victims were having hard times getting to facilities where they can get definitive care and be treated.”

Dr. Jason McElyea

The problem?  None of this is true.  This is just another attempt to scare people away from a legitimate drug approved by the FDA for humans that is highly effective against COVID, particularly the Delta variant.  This did not stop Big Media from jumping on the story to show just how ignorant people in flyover country are.  It was also another opportunity to keep the lid on about efficacious treatments.

One of the hospitals in question put out a message about this.

None of the hospitals that this doctor sometimes may have worked at reported any issues with treating patients in their ER’s.  The Rolling Stones picture is of people waiting to receive the vaccine in January.  Did they really think that people who had been shot would be standing around waiting for care?

How effective is the Nobel prize winning IVM?

India has an excellent testimonial. Since April 28, India medical officials started providing Hydroxychloroquine and ivermectin to its massive population. As India is the major pharmaceutical manufacturer in the world, they were ready for this massive drug distribution. Miraculously, COVID cases were plummeting quickly since then thanks to the new rules.

The story is the same in Bangladesh, Argentina and Mexico.  India saw a 97% reduction in cases wherever IVM was used either as a treatment or prophylactically.

Peru is another sterling example.

A new president takes over in Peru and restricts IVM use.  The result is catastrophic.  He must be a relative of the Avatar in our White House who manages to f**k up everything he touches.

What kind of check did KFOR do for this story?  Did KFOR investigate the benefits of this drug before smearing it with the public?  Is it any wonder that people do not trust the media?

Did this nonsense put any critically ill patients at risk?  Will Oklahoma’s State Licensing Board review the highly irresponsible actions undertaken by a supposed ER doctor?

Where is Big Tech in their misinformation campaigns?  Why were Twitter feeds that contained derogatory information about IVM not labelled with a warning graphic at least?
