The Clinton Era File Gate Scandal

One of the items rising from the memory banks of some people is the File Gate scandal during the Clinton administration.

The White House FBI files controversy of the Clinton Administration, often referred to as Filegate, arose in June 1996 around improper access in 1993 and 1994 to FBI security-clearance documents. The revelations provoked a strong political and press reaction because many of the files covered White House employees from previous Republican administrations, including top presidential advisors. Allegations were made that senior White House figures, including First Lady Hillary Rodham Clinton, may have requested and read the files for political purposes.

One observer of all things political noted:

Yep. That’s pretty much the gist of it.  But let me add that it wasn’t just “hundreds” of FBI files.  Nearly 1000 were eventually admitted to having been taken and Linda Tripp testified that she saw a room stacked floor to ceiling with FBI files … thousandS of them.

And we know who hired Craig Livingstone.  A Clinton administration staffer testified under oath that Hillary hired him.  She denied even knowing him but we know that’s a lie because a Judicial Watch FOIA request years later uncovered pictures of Hillary and Craig together on multiple occasions … walking side by side and looking at each other, laughing, as if sharing a some funny joke.  And year’s after that, Craig himself stated publicly that Hillary not only knew him but hired him.

And let me point out one more thing.  And just as Durham is the fixer in the current Hillary scandal, Ken Starr was the fixer in the earlier Clinton scandals.  He failed to ask Linda Tripp, one of the key Filegate witnesses, rather obvious and critical questions.  Tripp expressed her surprise at how little he delved into the matter.  And despite having sworn statements that Hillary was behind Filegate, Starr questioned Hillary for less than 10 minutes.  That’s when she denied knowing Livingstone.

As further proof that Starr was corrupt, note that he announced to the public shortly after the existence of the FBI files was confirmed, that the files had all been returned to the FBI.  But years later, during a live TV interview with Sam Donaldson and George Will, special prosecutor Robert Ray, Ken Starr’s successor, admitted that the FBI files were still in the Clinton Whitehouse hands. Starr deliberately lied to the American Public and allowed the Clinton Whitehouse to retain the blackmail material they’d acquired.

Does any of this sound familiar?  A Democratic administration weaponizing different agencies of the Federal Government against their political opposition.  Oh, and the files would also be used to keep Democratic lawmakers in line.  Ever wonder just how the Democrats always vote in lockstep with each other?

And the FBI didn’t care that the Whitehouse still had its hands on illegally acquired files.  But there is even more damning proof that the FBI and Starr were corrupted by the Clintons. Recall Vince Foster’s death and what happened thereafter?  Both Starr and the FBI were deeply involved in the investigations that followed. And the facts clearly prove they covered up what happened.

For example, the night of Foster’s death numerous items were removed by Hillary’s staff from his office … which by any standard should have been viewed as a crime scene since the Park Police had already requested the office be sealed multiple times. Despite all the evidence proving people lied about what happened with regards to that search and what was taken from the office, as well as withholding the removed items from the OIC and Congress, the FBI *investigation* concluded that there was insufficient evidence to prosecute anyone for obstruction of justice.

Let’s remember that Foster’s death was supposedly a suicide.  Just how was that determined?

One of the items of interest in that case was a so-called suicide note. The IOC declared it authentic and Starr used it to bolster the suicide theory.  But there were all sorts of suspicious facts surrounding the discovery of that note.  For example, Hillary was the one to make the decision to keep its existence from Bill and authorities secret.  Clinton staffers swore under oath that she had no role whatsoever in the handling of the note but a memo was discovered, written by White House lawyer Miriam Nemetz, who quoted then-White House chief of staff Mack McLarty saying Mrs. Clinton “was very upset and believed the matter required further thought and the president should not yet be told.”

The FBI, investigating the note, wrote a report on it in August of 1993, but the contents of that report (and Park Police’s report) were withheld.  It wasn’t until March of 1994 that the New York Daily News, using a leaked copy of the Park Police findings, disclosed that the authentication of the torn-up note was performed by Sergeant Larry Lockhart of the US Capitol Police. No explanation was given why he was chosen for the task given he had no formal qualifications as a handwriting examiner.  Senate documents later revealed that he used only one document purportedly written by Foster for comparison purposes, which he himself admitted wasn’t good procedure.

It was also revealed that Fiske sent the note, with the same known sample that Lockhart had used, along with several canceled checks bearing Foster’s signature, to the FBI lab. It’s not clear what use Foster’s signature would have been, but in any case, using only that evidence, the FBI lab pronounced the note authentic, with no explanation ever given as to how that was determined.

Then in August of 1995, The Wall Street Journal under the heading “The Note that Won’t Go Away,” leaked a photo of the “suicide” note on its editorial page.  In October, three nationally recognized, board certified independent handwriting experts held a press conference and announced that the torn note was a forgery … not even a good forgery. Each gave detailed reasons for his conclusions.

Did this turn into front page news?  I jest in asking that question, of course.  And this was before the NYTimes demonstrated to the world that they were just a propaganda arm of the Democratic Party with their “reporting” on the demise of flight TWA 800 off the South Shore of Long Island.

On the evening of July 17, 1996, flight TWA 800 crashed off the south shore of Long Island killing all 230 people on board. The crash was witnessed by hundreds of people enjoying a warm summer evening outdoors. In all, the FBI interviewed more than 700 witnesses. These agents included members of the FBI’s missile team. They determined that well more than 100 witnesses were considered excellent. The evidence for a missile strike was considered to be overwhelming.

The NYTimes followed the Clinton administration’s lead and buried the story to help Bill Clinton win a second term.  As Jack Cashill detailed in his book, the FBI buried evidence that pointed to such a conclusion.

Now you’d think that would be news, but the New York Times and the Washington Post, the two newspapers which gave the most coverage to the discovery of the “suicide” note, ignored it. So did mainstream TV and most radio news programs, mainstream news magazines, and virtually every mainstream newspaper in the US. They were controlled media even then.  They continued to write stories about the Foster case as though the suicide note was legit.

And I’d be surprised if the FBI was unaware of what the three experts concluded.  You’d think the FBI would have been motivated to reexamine their conclusion. But they showed absolutely no interest. And once the three experts came forward, Starr suddenly lost interest in promoting the note as proof of suicide, too. Neither the FBI or Starr investigated why someone would want to tamper with the case. That’s because they both worked for the Clintons.

They showed no interested even when Reed Irvine (of AIM) met with Sergeant Lockhart and showed him sheet of paper with 12 words.  Lockhart was told the words came from two documents, neither of which was identified to him. He was asked if, in his professional opinion, all 12 words had been written by the same person. Lockhart conclude they were NOT. The 12 words were from the Foster letter that had been used to authenticate the note and the note itself. They had been copied and enlarged.  Again, you’d think the FBI would be embarrassed and want to go back to explain the discrepancy between their findings and this … especially since if the note was a forgery, then clearly there was some sort of foul play in the case.  But no, the FBI showed absolutely no interest.

Do you know that during Lisa Foster’s FBI interview, her lawyer, James Hamilton, reminded everyone that photos of the suicide note were not to be allowed out, even in response to a Freedom of Information Act Request.  Now how could he make such a demand? Where did his authority really come from? Well let me give you a clue. Hamilton was general counsel of the Clinton transition team and the author of a memo to Clinton counseling stonewalling in the Whitewater case.  And Hamilton was the lawyer that helped keep the Foster death photos under lock and key … the photos that might have told us conclusively whether Foster was murdered or not.

In that regard, an FBI memo to the Director of the FBI, written two days after Foster’s death by FBI agents at the scene, stated that the shot was fired into Foster’s mouth without leaving an exit wound.  This is completely contrary to the official claim that there was a gaping hole in the back of Foster’s head.  Yet Starr failed to tell the three judge panel monitoring his activities, as well as the public, about this memo.  And the FBI didn’t make a stink about him failing to do this.  Why did the Director of the FBI simply sit on this important memo?

In fact, do you know that Starr’s top investigator, Michael Rodriguez, resigned during the investigation … calling it a coverup.  One of the things Rodriguez alleged was that there was no hole in the back of Foster head. That instead there appeared to be a hole in his neck, completely contrary to what Fiske and Starr claimed in their reports.  Rodriguez said he saw photographic evidence of this (the photos the government still will not release).  Rodriguez noted that NOT ONE of the eyewitnesses (and there were 25 or 26) said they saw the gaping wound in the head.  They either saw no exit wound or they saw a wound in the neck, like Rodriguez.

You’d think that with discrepancies like this … with the resignation of the top investigator screaming coverup … the FBI would have taken an interest.  But no, the FBI was already corrupt … even back then … and did nothing. And I could go on and on noting incriminating facts that Starr and the FBI simply ignored … or outright lied about.   I could talk about the big green oven mitt that time stamped photos prove Starr planted as *evidence*.  I could talk about the faked evidence of clinical depression.  And the lies regarding the medications Foster took.  I could talk about the clear evidence that Starr and/or the FBI tampered with witness statements.  I could talk about Starr and the FBI’s lack of interest in the trips to Switzerland Foster took before his death.

Tampering with witness statements is something that was also done in the TWA 800 case.  Apparently the FBI has a long history of engaging in such corrupt activities.

I’ve been saying this for a long time.  This nation died in the 1990s under the Clintons.  Because the FBI and DOJ were corrupted to the core by them … just as Ken Starr was corrupted.  And because the RINOs in the Republican Party did nothing to really bring them to justice.  Especially George Bush. We all should have wised up then. Now it’s too late.

This was lawfare in its early stages.  It undoubtedly was blackmail as well.  I do hope he is wrong about it being too late.
