Ukrainian Escalation

As most who are following the conflict in Ukraine know, on New Year’s Day (12:02 AM to be precise), “Ukraine” fired six HIMARS missiles at a Russian troop facility in Donetsk.  Some 80+ troops were killed according to the Russian Ministry of Defense (MOD).  Kiev claimed that some 400 Russian soldiers might have been killed. This has been hailed in the western media as a great Ukrainian victory and proof of the fairy tale that Ukraine is about to overrun the Russians.

It is likely that this “success” will be played in western media for weeks as proof of the ultimate victory for Ukraine.  Here are the facts.  Ukraine has been losing 200+ soldiers A DAY.  Conscripts as young as 14 and 15 years old are being put on the front lines.  It is highly unlikely that Ukrainian personnel fired the HIMARS.  The intelligence inputs in real time show direct American participation in the horrific operation targeting the Russian conscripts’ New Year party just when the toasts began.

American troops have been on the ground in Ukraine for many months.  The only reason there have been no body bags used is Russia’s avoidance of targeting NATO units that are providing the tech support services needed to utilize advanced weaponry.

The Biden administration has been talking out of both sides of its mouth as usual.  Biden claims that avoiding a direct clash with Russia is a top priority.  However, at the same time the idiots in Congress (yes, that’s you, Kevin McCarthy) have been providing billions in weaponry at the request of the administration to someone who has no idea of what democratic freedom is.

Russia seems to be getting a little testy.  Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov:

“The Kiev regime is deliberately flooded with the most advanced weapons, including samples that have not yet been put into service in the Western armies, apparently in order to see how they will do in combat conditions… Meanwhile, Westerners are saying they prefer to remain ‘above the fray’ and find a direct face-off between NATO and Russia unacceptable, which is unadulterated hypocrisy. Already now, NATO members have de facto become parties to the conflict: Western private military companies and military instructors are fighting on the side of the Ukrainian forces. The Americans transmit satellite and other reconnaissance data to the Ukrainian command almost in real time and participate in planning and carrying out military operations.”

No one on this side of the conflict have refuted these allegations.

What is the next likely move in this war?  First, it appears that Ukraine is desperate.  Using six scarce HIMARS to achieve this “success” seems very desperate.  Will Ukraine resort to terrorism and begin targeting the civilian population in the areas controlled by Russia?  Oh, that’s right.  They are already doing that.

Is the Ukrainian war nearing the end of its life as a useful propaganda tool to distract Western populations from the horrific mess that their governments have made of life in general?

Will Russian “surgical strikes” become the order of the day?  An old saying comes to mind.  What’s sauce for the goose is sauce for the gander.  Americans coming home in body bags would be a PR nightmare for this administration especially after PDJT had de-escalated conflicts around the globe.

Will Congress ever get to debate going to war?
