An electrical fire at a Pacific Gas & Electric substation halted flights at Oakland Airport on Sunday evening. Travelers were stuck standing in long lines as security shut down for hours. Others crowded at their gates and at baggage claim waiting for power to be restored. The Bay Area Rapid Transit restricted service to and from the airport for several hours.
Power outage apparently, all of Oakland Airport at a standstill. No one getting thru security for going on almost an hour now.

Some 50,000 customers including the Oakland Airport were without power. The Daily Mail reports:
“Over the last three months, at least nine substations spanning North Carolina, Washington, and Oregon have cut power to thousands of customers. The attacks are worrisome for those in states and areas where a lack of power could turn deadly.”
“Between Washington and Oregon, there were six attacks on substations between mid-November and December in 2022.”
Efforts are underway within the federal hierarchy to determine what additional measures if any may be needed to protect the power grid from attacks. It is unclear at this time if the Oakland substation fire was accidental or deliberate.
This kind of event has a domino effect that is not limited to the electric grid. Flights are delayed which leads to missed connections. This is just another barricade to easy transit across the country via the air travel industry.
In view of the ongoing kinetic attacks by western nations against Russia orchestrated by this country, I would not be surprised to find out that the fire was deliberately set.
