Is Israel trying to start World War III? This is a legitimate question that needs to asked and debated in the halls of Congress. People in Congress need to get outside their silos of compartmented information and look at the real world through unfiltered spectacles. Our elected representatives need to throw off the yoke of Big Media and the Jewish lobby and see the world as it really is.
The current crisis between Iran and Israel started with Israel bombing to Iranian consulate in Damascus, Syria. Ostensibly Israel claimed that the consulate was “shelter house” for terrorists. In particular, one high mucky-muck and two of his sons were killed in the attack. Of course, there was myriad “collateral damage.”
Let’s examine Israel’s claim against the norms and protocols of international law and diplomacy. All consulates, embassies are considered to be the sovereign territory of the country occupying them. Of course, they occupy these embassies at the pleasure of the local government. The consulate of Iran in Damascus is considered to be sovereign territory of Iran. So, Israel attacked Iran.
Now, the brainwashed try to justify the attack just as Israel did. There should be no safe place for terrorists to exist. Here’s the problem with that. Let’s agree that the individuals in question were terrorists who got what they deserved. Does this make any consulate/embassy fair game for an attack if that country employs those who could be considered terrorists?
Who is one of the most important people in any US embassy abroad? It’s the CIA head of station. Has the CIA ever been involved in carrying out targeted assassinations? Did those assassins pass through any US embassy going to and from their appointed tasks? Does this make those consulates/embassies fair game if such a person is present?
What about MI6? How about the Russia’s FSB (the old KGB)? Has israel’s Mossad ever engaged in such activities?
Israel’s claim does not hold water. It was put out there as a public relations gimmick to mute the reaction of the world. However, the thinking people of the world are not deceived, particularly the BRICS nations. So, what was the purpose of Israel’s attack?
It is probable that Israel was hoping for a knee-jerk reaction from Iran. An indiscriminate response in the form of terrorist missile strikes might have forced Israel’s western allies to become actively engaged with Israel. An escalating regional conflict could occur that would pit all the major powers against each other.
However, Iran did not take the bait. From a geopolitical viewpoint, Iran was expected to respond. Iran did so on its own terms.
Israel and its allies had considerable time to prepare for the expected response. Multiple reports have surfaced that Iran gave the world 72-hours-notice of the retaliatory attack. Iran focused only military assets. The assets targeted appear to have been the Nevatim airbase, the Ramon airbase and a “secret” Mossad base in the Golan Heights. On Saturday Iran launched some 350 “missiles” toward Israel. These consisted of drones, cruise missiles and ballistic missiles. It does not appear that hypersonic missiles were used.
What was the result?
The media in the West are calling the attack a total disaster for Iran. Supposedly over 99% of the missiles were intercepted and destroyed. Any damage was minor.
All media reports and information coming from Israel and western governments need to be examined with a skeptical eye. Satellite photos are seeping out that show considerable damage to both air bases and rumors are circulating of the complete destruction of the Mossad base.
Scott Ritter notes:
The U.S. has an advanced AN/TPY-2 X-band radar stationed at Har Qeren, in the Negev desert.
Its mission is to detect Iranian missile launches, and pass targeting data to Israeli Arrow and David’s Sling and U.S. THAAD ABM batteries deployed to protect sensitive Israeli sites, including Dimona and the Nevatim and Ramon air bases.
Iranian missiles struck both Nevatim and Ramon air bases.
The best surveillance radar in the world, working in concert with the most sophisticated anti-missile defenses in the world, were impotent in the face of the Iranian attack.
For all those trying to spin yesterday’s events as an Israeli victory, chew on that fact:
The best missile defense system in the world could not protect the sites they were tasked with protecting from attacks by Iranian missiles. Who has deterrence supremacy?
It ain’t Israel.
How much did this defense that failed cost? There are many expert estimates that the cost was $1 billion to $1.3 billion. How long can that go on?
Was deterrence (Israel to stop assassinating Iranians) the purpose of the attack? The attack proved that Israel cannot be defended from a large-scale missile attack if Iran so chooses to do so.
Was that message received? In Israel there seems to be only one approach and that is all out war, a war they cannot win without western troops directly involved in the conflict. However, other regional actors, specifically Saudi Arabia and Jordan seemed to have gotten the message.
Tyler Burden at ZeroHedge reports:
Saudi Arabia has rejected reports that its military shot down some of the inbound drones and missiles launched from Iran Saturday night. “There is no official website that published a statement about Saudi participation in intercepting attacks against Israel,” Saudi government sources told Al Arabiya, after Israeli media claims circulated.
Jordan too is seeking to present itself as a neutral power in the conflict, despite confirming over the weekend that it did shoot down some projectiles sent from Iran that flew into its airspace during the earlier attack.
Where does all this end up? At this point that seems to lie in what Israel does next. Will they try to provoke a more massive response from Iran? Is such a move the only way Netanyahu can stay in power in Israel? Or will cooler heads prevail? Only time will tell.
