Censorship

The Devil and his many minions hate satire.  Why?  Properly done, it makes the target into a laughingstock.  It is a much better approach than violence.

Senator John Kennedy (R-LA) is a master of incisive quotes and satire.  Kennedy recently wrote an opinion column that was critical of trans athletes and USA Today-owned newspapers deleted the piece without even notifying Kennedy.

The problem?  According to the Gannett-owned USA Today, the op-ed contained “inflammatory” speech. According to Gannett editor Michael McCarter:

“The opinion teams across the USA TODAY Network are focused on delivering local, timely, relevant, and diverse opinion pieces. We recognize the importance of sharing varying perspectives and the vital role we play convening conversations. Sen. John Kennedy’s submitted opinion column did not meet our ethical guidelines, which state we will treat people with respect. After further review, our editorial team removed the column from our website. Sen. Kennedy has been given the opportunity to revise his language – not his viewpoint – to adhere with our standards.”

Reading between the lines, the issue is clearly that Sen. Kennedy opposes men participating in women’s sports.  If his position was on the other side of the ledger, it would not have mattered what language he used.

The current administration is out to end Title IX rights.  Sen. Kennedy opposing this is a wrench in their plan. Therefore, his op-ed piece could not be allowed to remain on the USA Today website.  This is similar to the situation in 2020 when Sen. Tom Cotton wrote an op-ed for the NYTimes.  The piece sent Times staffers into fits of rage.  As a result, the piece was censored much like what is happening with Sen. Kennedy.

Senator Kennedy noted:

“They think they are the speech police. Drunk on certainty and virtue, they think they are our moral teacher. This attitude is why so many Americans have lost confidence in the media. The media is not going to win that trust back until they return to neutrality instead of advocacy.”

Stating facts about transgenderism has nothing to do with treating people with respect.  This is a bogus standard that prevents the truth from being told to people.  It empowers the evil people who would like to control all aspects of our lives.
