The incoming Trump administration was wasting no time about who should be working in it. Potential appointments have been rolling out at a steady pace. This has the feeling of an organization that has been in place for some time to staff the government when the election was won.
Announcements are being made, for the most part, via X and Truth Social. Big Media is not getting a chance to sabotage an appointment with some inane loaded question while the announcement is being made. Will they do this? Of course, they will. Only it will come later and is less likely to be in the form of a live question.
Most of what is being announced needs confirmation from the Senate. While I am sure there will be a few potential appointments where the vetting is not complete, hopefully with a Republican Senate, the confirmation process will be smoother this time. PDJT has indicated that he wants people in their jobs sooner rather than later.
One of the very first things that PDJT did was announce that Susie Wiles would be his Chief of Staff in the White House. Mrs. Wiles will be the first female White House Chief of Staff in history.
PDJT in a statement:
“Susie is tough, smart, innovative, and is universally admired and respected. Susie will continue to work tirelessly to Make America Great Again. It is a well-deserved honor to have Susie as the first-ever female Chief of Staff in United States history. I have no doubt that she will make our country proud.”
There will be attempts to smear this appointment. However, she was co-chair of the campaign and it appeared to be well run. Susie will not be a policy maker. However, she will filter who gets time with PDJT.
Of course, it goes without saying that this selection does not need Senate confirmation.
Former New York Congressman, Lee Zeldin, will be nominated to lead the EPA.
This is an interesting pick for an early announcement. This probably indicates that deregulation and cost cutting will be a significant factor early in Trump’s second term. Elon Musk and Trump have both indicated that the EPA is in need of some serious downsizing.
PDJT in a statement:
“Lee, with a very strong legal background, has been a true fighter for America First policies. He will ensure fair and swift deregulatory decisions that will be enacted in a way to unleash the power of American businesses, while at the same time maintaining the highest environmental standards, including the cleanest air and water on the planet. He will set new standards on environmental review and maintenance, that will allow the United States to grow in a healthy and well-structured way.”
Hopefully this will lead to an exodus of the Green Nazi clowns who have made life difficult for many Americans while doing nothing for the environment and padding their own bank accounts.
Getting rid of unnecessary regulations leads directly to downsizing. That leads to a reduction in federal expenditures.
The leftie loonies like to push the narrative that without the EPA the country would be choking on dirty air and water or the planet would be doomed to burn up. None of that is true. Air and water were getting substantially cleaner long before the EPA came into existence. While some regulations may be needed, the public pressure for good narratives about the environmental impacts of companies is stronger than most enforcement mechanisms. And we certainly do not need them to control a trace gas in the atmosphere that is not responsible for changing climate conditions either warming or cooling.
And the EPA’s incompetence has, at times, led to environmental disasters as the people near Durango, Colorado can attest to (Animas River).
The EPA has long lusted after the power to control land use decisions across the country. This is an agency that needs some serious re-imagining of its role in this country. Not sure what the legal ramifications are about abolishing the agency but I believe that the agency was created via an Executive Order during the Nixon administration. If so, perhaps its current role could be managed via another Executive Order.
There will be a continuing stream of potential appointments over the next few weeks. It is good to see that PDJT is prepared to hit the ground running.
