The notorious Judge Juan Merchan, whose daughter raked in millions of dollars off the “trial” in her father’s courtroom, sentenced President-elect Donald Trump Friday morning for his ridiculous ‘hush money’ conviction in Manhattan. The initial purpose of this trial as well as the other lawfare trials was to prevent PDJT from campaigning and to deny PDJT the White House by smearing him.
That’s what lawfare is all about, creating public perceptions and using the judicial system to advance political goals. This is the ultimate example of the wrap-up smear that Nancy Pelosi so eloquently explained to reporters some years ago.
The working theory within the Democratic Party was that the American public would never elect PDJT if he was convicted of crimes in a courtroom. That theory was just that, a theory. It was created under the illusion that the American public would walk in lockstep with whatever mis-information that Big Media created. The real world turned out to be different from the Democratic Party’s view of it. Most Americans were not that stupid.
Once PDJT had been elected, then the focus of this particular effort changed. This Lawfare effort became one to position President Trump as the first convicted felon in the White House. That’s it. That’s the sum of motive and intent. To create a narrative. To smear the incoming President.
Why do this? It is because the Communists Democrats have no credible answers to all the problems they have created. The Democrats must resort to emotion-laden pleas with no factual backup to try to prevent the salvaging of the American Dream by PDJT and MAGA America.
On November 5th, over 75 million voters overrode Merchan’s sham Lawfare trial. And a sham trial it was. Professor Jonathan Turley weighed in today.
For those unfamiliar with Turley, he is an American attorney, legal scholar, writer, commentator, and legal analyst in broadcast and print journalism. A professor at George Washington University Law School, he has testified in United States congressional proceedings about constitutional and statutory issues. He has also testified in multiple impeachment hearings and removal trials in Congress, including the impeachmentof President Bill Clinton and both the first and second impeachments of President Donald Trump. Turley is a First Amendment advocate and writes frequently on free speech restrictions in the private and public sectors.
Turley posted a column on Fox.com. Some excerpts:
With the sentencing of Donald Trump Friday, the final verdict on the New York criminal trial of the president-elect is in. The verdict is not the one that led to no jail or probation for the incoming president. Acting Justice Juan Merchan has brought down the gavel on the New York legal system as a whole.
Once considered the premier legal system in the country, figures like New York Attorney General Letitia James, Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg, Justices Arthur F. Engoron and Juan Merchan have caused the system to be weaponized for political purposes. Trump will walk away from this trial and into the White House in less than two weeks, but the New York system will walk into infamy after this day.
As Turley and many other legal observers on both sides of the aisle have noted, the case was a legal absurdity. Democratic Senator John Fetterman called it total “B***s**t.”
Turley went on to note that the case was “More inflated than the Goodyear blimp…”. The follow-up appeals will show that the New York court system has rendered a verdict against itself.
Julian Epstein, the former Democratic chief counsel for the House Judiciary Committee, slammed what he said was the ‘gross abuse’ of justice in Trump’s case.
“This is essentially a gross abuse of the justice system. The unconditional discharge today is the judicial equivalent of saying never mind. They put the country through this for two years, all for naught. It’s an abuse of the legal system because no American ever in the history of this country has been prosecuted on this fact pattern”
Of course, Big Media, in another failed attempt to make themselves relevant to the public, went all in on trumpeting the results. All those who imbibe at the public trough see the arrival of PDJT in the White House as an existential threat to their gravy train.
And those among the masses who have drunk the Democratic Kool-Aid were out in force as well. These people were hectoring the voters who put PDJT into the White House. They tried to shame the public with statements like “Our country officially has a convicted felon as our leader. Great job voters.”
Some of these people actually feel that there was a legitimate trial in New York. I imagine they would change their tune if they ever actually read a transcript of what took place there. However, the bubble they exist in right now shields them from the truth. Their belief in the infallibility of a Democratic government has yet to be pricked.
