Tax The Rich

If there is one talking point that the Communists Democrats will always talk about, it is that the rich do not pay their fair share of taxes.  This despite the fact that the top 1% pay more than half of all the income taxes collected in this country.

California Congresswoman Maxine Waters lived up to her moniker as “Mad Max” when she appeared on NewsNation this week.  Waters was there to talk about the devastating fires in her state with Chris Cuomo.

Waters claimed that she did not want to talk about Democrat vs. Republican. Cuomo pointed out to her that politics is involved here because California’s governor Gavin Newsom and Los Angeles mayor Karen Bass are both Democrats.  Not only that but Bass has been publicly branded as inept for her allegiance to DEI policies.  Such policies have promoted ineptitude over merit throughout her administration.

Of course, Newsom spent much of last year in Washington hoping to become the Democratic standard bearer once Biden was pushed out of the way.  His interest in California was minimal at best and only was there as it pertained to his chances to run for President.  Biden saw to it that did not happen when he endorsed Harris as his replacement.

Rebuffed, Waters then pivoted to the victims of the fires and suggested that some of California’s richest people, the one percent, are not paying their ‘fair share’ in taxes. California has the highest taxes in the country.

“The first thing we’ve got to understand is, services cost money and we should be willing to get the richest people in this country, the richest 1% that is protected, make sure they pay their fair taxes so that we can have the money to provide the services. With that money and with those resources, the people who have been selected or elected to do the job should do the job.”

The problem is not that there is not enough money to provide the services that are needed.  In California, according to the California Legislative Analyst Office, the top 1% pay 50% of California income tax.

The problem is the political class who does stupid things like diverting water to the Pacific Ocean that should be stored in reservoirs.  It is leaving a reservoir empty for a year for some minor maintenance that was needed but not done.

It was firing firefighters who refused the unsafe and useless mRNA vaccine.  It was failing to clear underbrush and dead wood from the forests.  When you leave dead trees in the forest, after 18 months that wood literally becomes firewood.

One would think that the top priorities of the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power (LADWP) would be science based.  After all, LADWP is supposed to be apolitical right?  They are providing services to the public.

As one can see, the most important priority is “Leading With Equity.”  This means that DEI hires are most important rather than hiring people based on merit.  Because of this, people are dead and dying.  Large swaths of Los Angeles are being destroyed because of this Religion of Woke-ism.  This Religion could care less about facts, science, efficient delivery of public services, or reality.

That’s how Victor David Hanson describes this week’s catastrophic wildfires in California.

“It was a total systems collapse from the idea of not spending money on irrigation, storage, water, fire prevention and forest management, a viable insurance industry, a DEI hierarchy, you put it all together and it’s something like a DEI Green New Deal hydrogen bomb… Gavin Newsom was fiddling, he’s almost Nero Newsom.

And this has been something that is just unimaginable… The systems breakdown. And to finish, what we’re seeing in California is a state with 40 million people.

And yet the people who run it feel that it should return to a 19th century pastoral condition. They are de-civilizing the state and de-industrializing the state and de-farming the state. But they’re not telling the 40 million people that their lifestyles will have to revert back to the 19th century, when you had no protection from fire… You didn’t have enough water in California. You didn’t have enough power. You didn’t pump oil. So we are deliberately making these decisions not to develop energy, not to develop a timber industry, not to protect the insurance industry, not to protect houses and property. And we’re doing it in almost a purely nihilistic fashion.”

Money is NOT the problem. The INCOMPETENCE of DEI hires and the rest of the Democrats who have been in charge there for decades is the problem.  Newsom has been the lieutenant governor and governor of the state for FIFTEEN YEARS! There is NO ONE and NOTHING else to blame except him and other Democrats.

“LA is burning. And the derelict people responsible are worried that they are found out as charlatans and empty suits. The leftwing voters who enabled them are getting angry over the inferno that their chosen politicos green-lighted.”

As Scott Adams has pointed out, “Having the wrong leaders with the wrong priorities gets you everything we are witnessing this week.”

Will the people of California wake up?  It may be too late there since large scale ballot harvesting, also known as election fraud, is the order of the day for California elections.
