Lost in all the carnival atmosphere surrounding Zelenskyy’s visits around the world has been some moves that China has made recently. While the West’s attention has been on the diminutive Zelenskyy who is being flattered by Deep State useful idiots like Lindsay Graham, China has been engaging in what can only be described as sending messages to the countries in their region of the world. And those messages are not so gentle reminders of China’s improving military prowess.
First, is Taiwan. Of course, China sees Taiwan as simply a breakaway province of China. This ignores the fact that Taiwan “broke away” in 1949. Since then, Taiwan has developed into a vibrant democracy with its own governance, military, and diplomatic relationships, though it lacks formal recognition from most countries due to China’s pressure. Beijing has increasingly employed “grey zone” tactics – military and political pressure falling short of outright warfare – particularly since 2016.
A Chinese-crewed cargo ship is suspected of cutting an underseas communications cable that linked Taiwan with other countries. This has raised concerns about other potential infrastructure sabotage the likes of which we have seen in connection with Russia in Europe with the Nordstream pipeline incident.
China has set new records for intrusions into Taiwan’s air defense identification zone (ADIZ). The flights have involved a core of heavy bombers escorted by 30 or more fighter jets—the same formation as one would expect during a real attack.
China has claimed that these are just training exercises. However, they look an awful lot like practice for an invasion of Taiwan.
An unprecedented move by Chinese warships to “circumnavigate” Australian territory has touched a nerve, as Australia grows increasingly concerned about China’s reach and intentions in the region.
Australia’s military spotted three Chinese warships on Feb 10 in the Arafura Sea, off the northern tip of Australia. There may also be a submarine within the group although that has not been conclusively shown.
Is China flexing its military muscles to intimidate countries in the region?
Let’s be reminded that it is China’s intention to rule the world. And China plays a very long game to get what they want. With that in mind, the recent dustup in the Oval Office between Vance, Trump and Zelenskyy plays into China’s intentions.
China does not want the war to end. Keeping it going helps China since it reduces Russia’s ability to deal with China on their eastern front. The Democrats who met with Zelenskyy and told him to scuttle any deal with this administration for ending the war are playing into China’s hands.
When will someone in Big Media point this out?
