Global Tariff Strategy

White House National Economic Council Director Kevin Hassett appeared on Fox Business to talk about PDJT’s tariff agenda.  This includes some clarifying discussion about semiconductor imports.  Hassett also discussed new trade deals and the impact of the global trade reset on China.

The bubbly Hassett notes numerous countries are ready to sign new deals with America and there will likely be some announcements very soon.  These may include individual country announcements as well as announcements about groups of countries.

Fundamental Transformation

One of the things that Barack Obama promised was to fundamentally transform the country.  Of course, Obama did not say that his goal was to turn America into a country with one party rule.  Yet there is little doubt at this point in time that this was his goal.  His third term in office through his avatar Joe Biden proved this.

At this point in time, this attempt has failed.  The Communists Democrats could not rig the election enough. There just weren’t enough illegals in the country to allow for a ballot harvesting operation to overcome the grassroots support for a return to America’s roots, that being life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness for all Americans.

Highlights & Lowlights

The doom-and-gloom media outlets have been denigrating the Trump administration because supposedly there was not an instant reduction in inflation.  The hysteria has been amped up since the announcement of tariffs on all countries around the world.

Of course, none of this hysteria was present when the Biden administration allowed inflation to reach 9% during his administration.  Such inflation was crippling family budgets and causing more people to live from paycheck to paycheck.

A Fool Leads Them

House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries took to the floor this past week and claimed that inflation is going up under Trump. This has become a favorite talking point for Democrats over the last several weeks. The problem?  The Bureau of Labor and Statistics (BLS) released the Consumer Price Index for March, reflecting a drop in the year-over-year inflation rate to the lowest level in four years.

Tariffs

Margaret Brennan on Face The Nation went off on another one of her usual rants this time against what the administration is doing with the tariffs issue.  Apparently Brennan is very worried about the penguins of Heard and McDonald Island being able to keep up with the orders for industrial equipment.

Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick has to explain to Brennan just how the global markets work.  Brennan gets a little pissy toward the end.  Another Brennan interview where the gotcha questions get her instead of the person she is supposedly interviewing.

Tariffs

This is the first of what I am sure will be multiple posts about the tariffs that are being imposed on imports to our country.  There are many people (experts and not so experts) who have chimed in with their thoughts on what will happen as we move forward into what is somewhat uncharted territory.  Much of what is being spouted often reflects the ideology of the spouter.

Odds & Ends

Attorney General Pam Bondi has recommended that prosecutors should seek the death penalty in the case of accused murderer Luigi Mangione.  Mangione is accused of murdering UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson.

Over on ‘The View,’ Joy Behar recently wondered if this decision would cause a ‘backlash’ against Republicans. It doesn’t matter to her what happened, or the fact that a completely innocent man was murdered in cold blood. All that matters to Behar is that there is a possibility that something might go badly for Republicans. ...

In yet another stunning example of government waste, the Biden administration’s $3 billion scheme to convert the U.S. Postal Service (USPS) fleet to electric vehicles (EVs) has delivered nothing but empty promises, skyrocketing costs, and a mere 93 vehicles out of the planned 50,000.

Bidenomics

The final Bureau of Labor & Statistics (BLS) jobs report before the election was released Friday.  The results are devastating to the Biden economic narrative.  I doubt we will see Harris proclaiming the “continued success” of Bidenomics?   The report continues to reflect the penchant of those in charge for the statistical manipulation of the data.  [BLS Report HERE]
