I Am An American

Comments Off on I Am An American

This is a rerun of a post from several years ago.  It is even more appropriate today than it was then.

Freedom is a valuable and precious gift worth fighting for.  As Sundance notes:

We Americans come from solid stock.  We carry in our DNA a fortitude of individual identity that is not dependent on government for affirmation or permission.  We are the beneficiaries of those who believed in stubborn independence.

On the day when we celebrate the birth of America, we should ask what it means to be a citizen of this republic. ...

New World Order

One hears a lot about the polarization of this country into two radically different groups of people.  One such group believes in the absolutism of an all-powerful government who provides for all of one’s needs from cradle to grave.  The other group believes in individualism, self-determination and an inherent belief in right and wrong, in good and evil.

Censorship

The Devil and his many minions hate satire.  Why?  Properly done, it makes the target into a laughingstock.  It is a much better approach than violence.

Censorship

As cases wind their way through the courts over Big Tech censorship at the behest of our government, it is always a good thing to scan the landscape to see where America is with regards to censorship.  Seth Dillion, CEO of the Babylon Bee, did a brief review recently that encapsulates this.

Inclusivity

      Comments Off on Inclusivity

The DEI crowd is always ranting on and on about being, among other things, inclusive.  Society is a hellhole because too many people are not inclusive.  A recent incident at Princeton University may cast a slightly different light on their worldview (sarc).

Odds & Ends

Bidenomics also known as Obamanomics, at work.  Homebuyers need to earn 80% more than in 2020 to afford a house in this market. It’s not just due to high mortgage rates. Factors beyond high mortgage rates are affecting housing affordability for many Americans, according to experts.

Almost four years ago, a household earning $59,000 annually could afford a new mortgage without spending more than 30% of their monthly income and with a 10% down payment, according to a recent report by Zillow Group. That is no longer the case today.
