Success in the midterm elections secured power for House Democrats. This returned them to majority party status in the House for the 1st time since 2010. How will the Democrats use that power? Representative David Cicilline, co-chair of the Democratic Policy and Communications Committee, in a combative interview revealed much of the party’s agenda.
Congressman Cicilline stated that the Dems would be workng to drive down the cost of healthcare and prescription drugs. The congressman appears to reside in some Orwellian universe. This sounds exactly like what Obamacare was supposed to do. Families would save thousands of dollars on insurance premiums. Of course, they were using Orwellian doublespeak. That is, where up means down and down means up. And they knew it.
Nothing was further from the truth. Health insurance premiums skyrocketed. Everyone saw double digit premium increase in the 1styear. Some saw premium increases of more than 100% during the first two years Obamacare was in effect. Double digit increases in premiums continue to the present day. In addition, deductibles went sky high bringing more costs to people who actually had to use the system.
So when the congressman leads with this, look out. The Dems will be trying to transfer money from the people’s pockets into their cronies’ pockets.
Next the congressman wants to improve family incomes by creating more and better paying jobs through infrastructure projects. Apparently he believes that the economy is not doing very well. He specifically says that this is what Democrats ran on. Again more Orwellian doublespeak
In race after race the Democratic agenda was nowhere to be seen. It was all about character assassination and smear campaign tactics. In several local races in this area these attack ads were constant beginning in the morning and lasting late into the night.
When challenged on the economy and the fact that PDJT’s plan is producing an extraordinarily low unemployment rate for everyone, he performed an Ocasio-Cortez maneuver where he connected that rate to too many Americans working 2 and 3 jobs.
He then went on to claim that the tax reform package was really just for the rich. This he said despite that the fact that the CBO has shown everyone (except a few rich people) were benefitting from the package in their take home pay. He also ignored the fact that, contrary to what the Dems had claimed before the passage of the tax reform package, companies that now had more after tax income have shared that with their employees in the form of bonuses and wage increase and were creating new jobs at a rate not seen this century.
He then delved into more Orwellian doublespeak when he claimed that the GOP was planning to cut Medicare and Social Security. These are tactics right out of the Democratic playbook. No such plan exists. In fact an improving economy actually helps the financial condition of the trust funds for both of these programs.
Congressman Cicilline was then asked directly if the Dems planned to raise taxes. He was finally pinned down to admitting that, in typical Democratic fashion, the plan was to raise taxes on the rich. Apparently the fact that economy is booming because corporations were benefitting from a lower tax rate escapes his attention. Also manufacturing jobs that were supposed to never return to this country were returning in substantial numbers because of the lower tax rates.
Late in the interview he engaged in more Orwellian doublespeak when he said that there had been no abuse of the FISA court warrant process despite the fact that a 99 page report was produced by a FISA court judge showing significant wrongdoing in this process.
It seems clear that the Dems have little real intention of helping the American public except when they want to buy their votes. Multiple sources inside the Party have indicated that they have as many as 85 different areas of investigation that they intend to pursue.
As reported at Patriot News Daily;
The Democrats have a list of “at least 85 topics” that they are expecting to target with their new House majority. Reporter Jonathan Swan wrote that Republicans were already in possession of a list of issues they anticipated coming under investigation once – or if – the Democrats gained control of the House. This list includes Trump’s tax returns, his family business dealings, the firing of FBI Director James Comey, the Stormy Daniels payment, Trump’s relationship with Russian President Vladimir Putin, the military transgender ban, and more.
But in a broader survey of topics Democrats have mentioned to various news publications over the past few months, Axios came up with many other investigations that could be in the pipeline. They include:
- Figuring out what Mueller has found thus far
- Trump’s use of pardons
- The building of a new FBI headquarters
- The firing of Jeff Sessions
- Several allegations of misconduct revolving around Interior Sec. Ryan Zinke
- Trump’s “politicization of the military” (??)
…and many more.
In other words the Democrats will engage in a variety of witch hunts and the public be damned.
