On Sunday, the news coming out of Washington was that rank-and-file Democrats AND Republicans in the Senate, with the help of the Treasury Secretary, had drafted a bipartisan bill to help Americans through the coronavirus crisis. Sen. Schumer (D-NY), minority leader in the Senate, praised it on CNN saying, “to my delight and surprise there has been a great deal of bipartisan cooperation.”
On Sunday evening Pelosi swooped in from her vacation in California and threw an IED into the process. Schumer received orders from Rep. Nancy Pelosi to reject it. Like good stormtroopers Schumer and the other Democratic Senators snapped to attention and followed orders. Schumer immediately reversed course and called the bill drafted by Democrats and Republicans “a highly partisan Republican bill.” It is amazing how easily politicians can lie with a straight face to the TV cameras.
One could certainly question the wisdom of such an extraordinarily large amount of money ($1.8 trillion) being spent when the country is so deep in debt. However, this had nothing to do with Pelosi’s rejection of the Senate bill. Pelosi and Jim Clyburn (D-SC) had decided to hold the American people as hostages in order to get their way in Washington. Pelosi then advanced her own 1,400 page monstrosity of bill with an even larger price tag ($2.5 trillion).
Pelosi probably thought it would have to be passed to find out what was in it. But the old adage “Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me” came into play. People dove into the bill and found funding to murder unborn children. They found funding for ballot stuffing, diversity (shows up 60 times in the bill), etc. The list of far-left proposals that have nothing to do with the crisis at hand was almost endless.
Derek Hunter noted,
Republican Senators shredded the Democrats for their attempts to funnel money to unions and other big donors to the Democratic Party.
Pelosi lied that everything in the bill would only address issues directly related to the Wuhan Flu crisis. Pelosi probably thought that her compliant friends in the media would not challenge this assertion. So, it was probably a big surprise when Dana Bash from CNN politely expressed some mild concerns about non-related items in the Pelosi’s bill. Pelosi got completely flustered when this happened. Pelosi utterly failed to explain how these leftist boondoggles deserved to go forward.
On Tuesday Pelosi caved. She tried to save face by saying that there cannot be any “poison pills” in the Senate bill. This is coming from a woman who was trying to hold all Americans hostage while inserting a multitude of poison pills in her own package. Pelosi seemed to be trying to set up the possible rejection of the bill negotiated by rank-and-file Democratic Senators. Perhaps Pelosi hopes to resurrect her monstrosity shortly.
This is what all Americans should remember. When presented with the choice to help all Americans, Pelosi, Clyburn, Schumer, et al, prioritized what they always prioritize, supporting the corrupt power network that helps the Democratic Party. The Democrats do not give a s**t about ordinary Americans except at election times. They do not give a s**t whether people have a job. The Democrats do not give a s**t whether people live or die. The Democrats told ordinary Americans they can go to hell.
Hopefully when November rolls around, people will still retain the sense of outrage and disgust that a majority of ordinary Americans now feel towards these despicable people and will vote accordingly.
