Over the past ten months or so, there has been a lot of attention paid to Joe Biden and his “gaffes.” Of course, while Joe Biden has had his share of gaffes in the past, these were of a different variety. Many of his current crop have been signs of a declining cognitive function. They appear to be clear signs of early stage dementia.
There have been many indicators. These have ranged from not knowing what day of the week it is, to what state he is in, to what office he is running for. Biden has also erupted into bouts of anger when asked questions he doesn’t like. Biden is also unable to finish thoughts that he starts articulating particularly when he is not in front of a teleprompter.
Because of these exhibitions of cognitive deficiency, much attention has been focused on protecting him in the media. His public appearances have been reduced to limit his exposure. The DNC has been trying to get Bernie Sanders to give up the fight for the nomination so that they can focus on rebuilding Biden’s image. So far Sanders has been unwilling to do that. Perhaps he is hoping that Biden’s cognitive weaknesses will be exposed enough that the DNC will be forced to turn elsewhere for a candidate.
Because of Biden’s issues, very little attention has been paid to another member of the Democratic Party’s geriatric elite with similar problems. Nancy Pelosi has been displaying similar symptoms. Innumerable instances have been recorded on video of Pelosi slurring her words, of being unable to follow the trend of questions, of going off on tangents that have little or nothing to do with the subject at hand. This is a master politician who has spent decades in front of microphones. Pelosi seems to be having considerable difficulty arranging her thoughts into a coherent whole.
Then there is the anger. It has been widely reported in the press that Pelosi “stormed” out of meetings at the White House on multiple occasions. After she left the one in October last year, those who remained stated that the meeting was “much calmer and more productive” after she left.
At the end of the State of the Union address, Pelosi rippled up the speech in full view of all who were watching. She had pre-ripped the pages while the speech was going on. Then like a child in fit of anger, Pelosi had torn the paper to shreds. Pelosi snapped at reporters who asked her about this.
More recently was the fiscal bailout issue. Last Sunday after rank-and-file members of both parties had hammered an agreement that even Sen. Schumer (D-NY) praised as a bipartisan effort, Pelosi flew in and threw those Senators under the bus. She scuttled the effort.
Pelosi gave a black eye to every Democratic Senator who had worked on the bill. Interestingly enough when the reasoning for the decision was announced at a hastily convened press conference, no Democratic Senators were standing behind her.
Pelosi then presented her own 1400 page monstrosity of a bill. This was supposed to represent the common people of America. However, the common people were not so easily taken in. The backlash was huge. After a day and a half Pelosi backtracked away from her bill and accepted the original one that had been hammered out with some minor changes.
Pelosi is supposed to be a master politician. How did she make such a mistake? She put the entire credibility of Democratic Senators at risk over a huge political miscalculation. What was she thinking?
Pelosi gets upset when friendly interviewers try to ask her questions she does not like. One recent example was her interview with Dana Bash. Pelosi lied that everything in her bill would only address issues directly related to the Wuhan Flu crisis. Pelosi probably thought that her compliant friends in the media would not challenge this assertion. So, it was a big surprise when Dana Bash from CNN politely expressed some mild concerns about non-related items in the Pelosi’s bill. Pelosi got completely flustered. Pelosi utterly failed to explain how these leftist boondoggles deserved to go forward. Now good politicians can deflect questions they do not want to answer but, this was different.
All of this points to the very real possibility of a cognitive decline with the Speaker of the House.
On Sunday the Speaker was interviewed by Jake Tapper on the Counterfeit News Network (CNN). Her answers were hardly those of a seasoned politician. At one point she even says “But as the President fiddles, people are dying.” This is an absolutely incredible statement. It shows a total disconnect with reality. When pressed by Tapper if Trump was costing American lives, her answer was, “Yes, I am. I’m saying that.”
This is the most shameful, despicable statement by any American politician in modern American history. Was Speaker Pelosi cognizant of what she was saying, of what question she was answering?
So, are we seeing a situation where the two most prominent “leaders” of the Democratic Party, Joe Biden and Nancy Pelosi, are experiencing cognitive difficulties? What does this say about the Democratic Party?
