The silent majority is becoming decidedly less silent. As draconian lockdown orders have spread throughout the country, the level of frustration has gone up with most Americans who were fine with voluntary compliance with the CDC guidelines.
While the MSM initially attempted to downplay the protests as a fringe movement by a few “right wing idiots,” the reality is that thousands and thousands of people are no longer going to sit by and allow politicians to dictate what they can and cannot do. Beginning with the drive-by protests by people in their cars in Lansing, Michigan, pushback against the various state lockdown orders has now spread to 18 states. Another seven states have rallies scheduled this coming week including Missouri, Pennsylvania and Maine.
At this point two red states (TX and SC) have started to loosen restrictions. Two purple states (FL and NC) have done so also. These governors appear to recognize that the danger from the virus was overhyped by the media.
These protests have the same kind of feeling as the Tea Party protests of 2010. These are truly grassroots movements. These are people who are detecting an overbearing government taking away their basic rights. There is no one paying these people to show up like there was for the protests in Ferguson, Missouri. There is no overarching organization as there was for the riots in Baltimore after Freddie Brown died in police custody. There is no one standing by paying people to disrupt proceedings like there was for the Kavanaugh confirmation hearings.
Some of this let-us-get-back-to-work activity has caught the attention of the nation’s top Democratic politician. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) called the demonstrations “unfortunate” on Fox News Sunday.
Unfortunate indeed. Right now the Democrats want most people to be dependent on the government for their very existence. They want compliant subjects who will do what they are told. Destruction of the Trump economy is the means to that end. If people get back to work and the economy revives, all that goes away.
Commissar Pete Murphy of the New Jersey Directorate (that’s governor of NJ) is the latest politician who abuses the power he has been given.
A liberty-minded woman in New Jersey, Mrs. Kim Pagan, has been charged with crimes against the state. Her crime? Organizing a protest against Commissar Murphy’s stay-at-home order. No subject is permitted to have “wrong thoughts.” This could undermine the Democrats’ attempts to “restructure things to fit our vision” as espoused by high-ranking Democrats like Murphy, Jim Clyburn (D-SC) and Nancy Pelosi.
Perhaps even more interesting is the notice below the red box. Jeffrey Hernandez of Paterson was cited for violating the emergency orders because officers found his employees washing cars by hand. Really? Really!
So why is the CDC recommending that we wash our hands more? Doesn’t soap and water kill COVID-19? Is the problem in Paterson that there is too much soap and water? Is Commissar Murphy afraid that the virus will mutate so that it will thrive in soap and water?
These “laws” that have been dictated are arbitrary. No representative body voted to put these restrictions on liberty in place. Court challenges are inevitable.
Until court challenges appear, the only option for the public to express their disagreement is through public protest. When you outlaw public protests as Commissar Murphy has done in NJ, you are taking away the most basic of freedoms in America enshrined in the First Amendment. This kind of repression is how the country came into being. Just ask King George III. Rebellion against unilateral power is as American as apple pie.
Commissar Jay Inslee (Washington) took issue with these protests. When PDJT tweeted a message on Friday that appeared to support some of them, Inslee went on TV to claim that the President was “fomenting domestic rebellion.” Inslee claimed that the President was putting “millions of lives at risk.” Just what kind of a man is Inslee who would state that protests against his unilateral actions are a form of “domestic rebellion?” Let’s remember that Inslee blamed PDJT when Antifa tried to blow up an ICE office in Seattle.
This is typical Democratic strategy. Whenever they cannot win a discussion in the marketplace of ideas, they fall back on accusing their opponents of “killing” people. This was part of the strategy when the abomination known as Obamacare was up for repeal. This led directly to James Hodgkinson’s attempt to assassinate Republican congressmen on a ball field in Alexandria.
Undoubtedly as we move forward, there will be claims that the President is trading lives for money. Wrong! The President knows that without the ability to provide for one’s family, the very lives of those families are at risk.
Life always has some risk. Adults are able to judge for themselves what the risk is and how much risk they are willing to tolerate. The Democrats are trying to wrap each American up in a cocoon of fear. It is a scam to control people and wreck the economy. The Democrats want to be Big Brother and control everything any American can do.
It is time for more Americans to stand up and say “Enough!”
