A friend of mine has said many times that the lawyers will figure out a “color of authority” defense to get these creeps off who framed General Flynn. I am hopeful John Durham is smart enough to navigate around those landmines.
There is an excellent piece by Mark Wauck over at MIH that delves into the machinations that elite FBI employees engaged in to set up and frame General Flynn. I will attempt to summarize what he has posted. It is blood boiling type of stuff.
At some point during 2016 (no later than August 2016) the Washington Field Office (WFO) initiated an investigation into General Flynn. This was done under FARA, that is, the Foreign Agent Registration Act. As per Mark Wauck, the essentials of the act are pretty straightforward.
As noted, the question for investigators was to determine if Flynn was operating under the control or direction of the Russian government or some official of such.
In reviewing the documents that have been released, it is not clear if a preliminary investigation (PI) or full investigation (FI) was initiated since that part of the document is redacted. Wauck makes a convincing argument that it was an FI due to “specific and articulable facts” vs “allegations.”

The electronic communication that formed the basis for initiating the investigation closely tracks the language of the Guidelines. Since this was a subset of the Crossfire Hurricane investigation, the initiation most certainly came from FBI headquarters (FBIHQ) and not the WFO. WFO was tasked with the actual grunt work.

Please note that “open source information” would mean information available from the NYTimes, or the internet or something like that.
Where are the facts that Flynn was controlled and/or directed by the Russian Federation? Flynn was part of the Trump campaign. This fact is the probable real reason for the investigation since at one time he had been in the Obama administration as head of the DIA. After he left, he had been quite critical of Obama’s foreign policy.
Wauck notes,
Flynn traveled to Russia. Leading Authorities, Inc., a talent booking agency for speaking engagements, booked a speech for Flynn in Russia in 2015. Just how many people travel to Russia? Does the FBI open investigations into all of them? Did they when Bill Clinton spoke in Moscow while his wife was Secretary of State? No, they don’t. And no, they didn’t. Just Michael Flynn apparently.
Flynn has an active TS/SCI clearance. This is the factual basis?
WFO could find nothing “derogatory” and moved to close the hoax investigation after about five months. This reminds one of the old saying of one of Josef Stalin’s buddies.

That’s clearly what was going on here. However, even with all the resources of the FBI, they could not find anything to move forward with. The WFO closed the investigation with an EC to FBIHQ on 1/4/2017.
Here is where it gets very interesting. Peter Strzok, one of the two star-crossed lovers in FBIHQ, found out about the EC. Strzok jumped in and had the process stopped before it could be completed. Why? The 7th floor at FBIHQ. That’s where the disgraced director Comey and deputy director McCabe of the FBI resided.
The very next day Comey met with Obama, Biden, Yates and Rice in the Oval Office. According to Rice, instructions from Obama were to “do things by the book.” Do what? Just how deeply was Obama involved in this? The EC from the WFO had tried to close the hoax investigation, the one that was “without basis” as AG Barr has said recently.
In Flynn’s role as a member of PDJT’s transition team, Flynn had been in contact with various governments including Russia’s ambassador Kislyak (12/29/2016). The FBI had the contents of the call. There was nothing illegal there. Flynn was just doing his job as a member of the transition team.
The conspiracy was to keep PDJT from being inaugurated or if that failed, to make the administration unable to function. Flynn was a serious threat since he knew a lot about different activities that had gone on during the Obama administration.
Flynn was also to be PDJT’s National Security Advisor. As such he would have had access to all counter intelligence information. Flynn would quickly have uncovered the fraud that was perpetrated on the court with the Carter Page Fisa warrant. Flynn would have been in the way of the fraudulent attempts to impeach PDJT. Flynn had to go. The proof is in their own words recently released by the DOJ.

Who sent the agents? James Comey. How do we know? Comey told us.

Comey intentionally circumvented the White House Counsel and Justice Department protocol to send two agents to interview then National Security Advisor Michael Flynn, a man he knew to be innocent. It did not matter. Flynn (and Trump) were a threat to Deep State power.
The Comey interview above took place at a time when it appeared that the operation against Flynn had succeeded. At the time Flynn had pled guilty to a crime he did not commit to avoid the trial penalty. That penalty would have been decades in prison if he lost. It would have been financial ruin regardless. It also appears that the prosecutor had been threatening the General’s son with an indictment on baseless charges. It should be interesting to see how Comey tries to walk back this admission.
This is KGB-style justice. It was done under the “color of authority.” The FBI tried to entrap Flynn. Flynn did nothing wrong. The FBI tried to create the appearance of a crime. The DOJ went all-in on prosecuting Flynn. Obama and Biden said and did nothing. Again just how deeply was Obama involved in this?
Also, the Mueller Hit Squad had the EC from the WFO. They knew that there was nothing there. But, they went after Flynn anyway. Their purpose appears to have been to get Flynn to lie about PDJT so that an impeachment process would have “evidence” to overturn the results of the 2016 election. Another KGB tactic.
That’s what this was all about.
It is time for justice to be served.
