The principal thing that has fueled the vandalism and rioting that has plagued America since the death of George Floyd is the narrative of “black genocide.” According to this narrative, unarmed black men are at risk of dying at the hands of police every time they venture out into the public arena. The idea is that racism is so “systemic” in this country that an innocent remark by a black man can turn into a situation where that person is beaten or killed by police.
Sen. Cory “Spartacus” Booker (D-NJ) gave a speech on this “systemic” racism. In it he noted,
For so many Americans, this is not a tough week or a tough few weeks. This is the story of life every single day. And we have so many people in our country, African American men, mostly unarmed, being murdered by police officers and no way of holding them accountable.
Booker went on to state that such actions by the police are “a regular part of our culture and our nation.” Sen. Kamala Harris (D-CA) backed up Booker’s assertion.
The question is what are the facts? Are these elite politicians as well as some celebrities stating facts or are they trying to perpetrate a fraud on the American public? Are they trying to inflame racial divisions in an attempt to increase their power?
I asked some family members just how many unarmed black men they thought were killed by police in 2019? The answers ranged from 100 to 200. I think if you were to ask the general public, the answers would range from a few dozen to thousands.
Tucker Carlson of Fox News has done the research into this area. On Wednesday night he reported on the results of that research during his monologue.
A quick summary of the facts on 2019 shootings. These facts were gleaned from a database that the Washington Post has been keeping on fatal police shootings. Please note that this is the Washington Post. It is not from some law-and-order website. WaPo has been doing this since 2015.
- Total fatal police shootings…1004
- Total shootings where the race of the officer and the perpetrator was identified…802
- Of the 802, 371 victims were white and 236 were black
- The vast majority were armed with black perpetrators significantly more likely to be so
- According to WaPo, there were 9 “unarmed” black men shot fatally by police
Now unarmed is a broad definition for the Washington Post. Let’s take a look at a few examples to understand this
Channara Pheap…According to Carlson,
He was killed by a Knoxville police officer Dylan Williams. According to Williams, Pheap attacked him, choked him and then used a Taser on him … before the officer shot him. Five eyewitnesses corroborated the officer’s claim, and the officer was not charged.
In what alternate reality would this man be considered unarmed?
Marzues Scott.
Assaulted a shop employee. When a female police officer arrived and ordered the suspect toward her car, he instead charged her and knocked her to the ground. At that point, she shot and killed him. The entire incident was caught on body camera. The officer was not charged.
Melvin Watkins.
Was shot by a deputy, after he drove his car to toward the deputy at high speed. The deputy was not charged.
Does the Washington Post not consider a car to be a weapon when used like this?
Kevin Mason.
Was shot by police during a multi-hour standoff. While Mason turned out not to have a gun, Mason claimed to have a gun, claimed to be armed and vowed to kill police with it. They believed him. Mason had been in a shootout with police years before.
Of the remaining five cases, one resulted from the accidental discharge of the officer’s weapon while fighting with the perpetrator. The remaining cases that occurred during pursuit or a standoff, resulted in one officer being charged. Tucker Carlson noted,
“Is it possible that more of these officers should have been charged? Of course, it’s possible. Justice is not always served, that’s for sure. But either way, this is a very small number in a country of 325 million people. This is not genocide. It’s not even close to genocide. It is laughable to suggest it is.”
As Brent Smith reported,
The riots are said to be retribution for the needless, senseless and rampant killing of blacks at the hands of racist cops all over the country – that George Floyd was not an outlier. He was just another of the countless who lose their lives at the hands of racist cops.
This is a big lie. It’s a total and complete fabrication that has permeated our society like a cancer. As I have suggested above, it has become the accepted truth. The Democrats and their allies in the media have adopted the Big Lie technique as outlined in Adolf Hitler’s Mein Kampf. They have succeeded in implanting this lie as the truth in much of America.
The Fox News host said that the number of killings by police has actually fallen from the numbers seen during former President Barack Obama’s presidency. In fact, 2019 saw the smallest number of fatal police shootings since WaPo started tracking such things.
Tucker Carlson concluded his monologue:
“Again, those are the facts. They are not in dispute. Are African Americans being ‘hunted,’ as Joy Reid recklessly claimed on MSNBC recently? Or is something else happening? Is our nation being ripped apart by a total and complete lie, a provable lie. A lie used by cynical media manipulators and unscrupulous politicians who understand that racial strife, race hatred, is their path to power, even if it destroys the country? You have the facts now and you can decide what’s really going on.”
Thank you, Tucker Carlson, for having the courage to stand up and say this. The country owes you a debt of gratitude.
