There is a growing crescendo of opinion among the bobbleheads in the MSM that a second wave of the coronavirus is here. There has been a spike in cases in some southern states. This has led to finger-pointing by the media that these governors are putting people’s lives at risk by opening up their economies too quickly. One state, South Carolina, supposedly has seen new cases rise to around 2000 per day (The real count is closer to 700). Other states that have rational leadership in the governor’s mansion have seen similar rises. Is this “surge” real?
It turns out that there has been significant overcounting of the number of individuals with the coronavirus. According to the far-left publication, The Atlantic,
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is conflating the results of two different types of coronavirus tests, distorting several important metrics and providing the country with an inaccurate picture of the state of the pandemic. We’ve learned that the CDC is making, at best, a debilitating mistake: combining test results that diagnose current coronavirus infections with test results that measure whether someone has ever had the virus. The upshot is that the government’s disease-fighting agency is overstating the country’s ability to test people who are sick with COVID-19. The agency confirmed to The Atlantic on Wednesday that it is mixing the results of viral and antibody tests, even though the two tests reveal different information and are used for different reasons.
This is not merely a technical error. States have set quantitative guidelines for reopening their economies based on these flawed data points.
You got to be kidding me. How could the CDC make such a mistake?
There is another form of overcounting going on as well. In the beginning of the pandemic, the media breathlessly reported fatalities, warning of millions of U.S. deaths based on the faulty predictions of disease models presented to President Trump and his task force by the basketball player and the scarf queen. These were used to justify shutting down the country.
Now all we hear about is the number of new cases. Deaths do not seem to matter anymore. Why is that? Is one rising while the other is falling? Even with the faulty way that deaths were being counted, the number of deaths has been flat or falling for months. Even with COVID-19 deaths inflated by an estimated 25%, deaths appear to have peaked sometime back in April.
It turns out that around the end of May and the beginning of June, there was a change in how “confirmed” new cases were counted. Previous to this, confirmed cases needed a positive result from a PCR lab test. Now the PCR test itself is somewhat iffy as a gold standard. But, that is a different story. That all changed some 6 to 8 weeks ago depending on the state. And the change is reflected in the increase in “confirmed” cases being reported.
Previous case definition:
A new probable case definition is being counted in most locales as a “confirmed” case.
This substantially increases the new case count. Looking at the new case graphs for different states, one can almost spot the day the definition was changed. Why would health departments change the rules in the middle of the game? Remember, there are metrics for re-opening. They need to falsely inflate the number of cases to keep the economy shut down.
As Brian Joondeph noted,
The ruling class, including federal, state, and local health departments, are desperate to prevent a second Trump term. They are banking on the weakest presidential candidate, likely suffering from dementia, winning the presidency, and are doing everything they can to drag him across the finish line. The great Democrat hope is a guy who said, “I’m Joe Biden’s husband, Joe Biden.”
Rising case counts are a great excuse to shut down the country again, as many states are doing, throwing water on a reignited economy. This also stops Trump rallies and keeps Dementia Joe safely in his basement, away from his sparsely attended rallies and the debate stage where he will look like Pee Wee Herman going 15 rounds with Mike Tyson.
This is like changing the rules in the middle of a baseball game. Instead of having to hit the ball out of the park for a home run, now reaching the warning track is sufficient.
The Democrats are trying to pull off one of the biggest frauds in the history of the country. They are trying to put a senile old man into the presidency. They need the economy shut down in order to do that. Playing with the COVID-19 numbers is one way to accomplish that.
Please keep in mind that this “surge” in cases is not uniform across all demographics. The surge is predominantly in the 20-45 year-old age range. The BLM protests and riots did not have social distancing. The majority of protesters and rioters were in this age bracket. Coincidence? The media thinks so. They are saying that the protests had no effect on the spread of the virus. If that’s the case, then why are we social distancing?
Many cases being discovered are asymptomatic. They are uncovered because of required testing that is needed to be on certain jobs. These people did not know they had it.
The idea of shelter-in-place orders was to flatten the curve. That has been done. In most states the percentage of hospital beds occupied by patients with COVID-19 are below 20%. Multiple treatments are now available for those who get sick. This is reducing the need for hospitalization. It is time to fully re-open the country.
