Albuquerque Police Department Detective Ryan Holets spoke at the Republican National Convention about the effect of drug use on the community he serves. He praised President Donald Trump for the action he has taken against drug and opioid use, including new federal funding and programs aimed at rural America. Holets pointed to the success of those programs in states where deaths related to opioids have dropped and a dramatic reduction in the prescription of opioid prescriptions. He also mentioned the country had seen its first drop in drug overdose deaths in 30 years
This is an especially moving speech. It highlights the humanity of police officers and also what they face everyday. Holets highlighted the President’s tireless efforts to bring good outcomes for all Americans.
