You are in the market for a new home. You have scoured the area where you want to live. You find what you think will be your dream home. The buyer is anxious to sell but needs a cash sale in a short time frame. You scramble around to come up the cash and are successful. You close on the home. The money is transferred to the previous owner and you get ready to move in.
This was the situation for Tracie and Myles Albert after buying a home in Riverside, California. The sale closed on January 31, 2020. They have yet to be able to move in.
The problem? The seller was not ready to move out. To this day more than a year later, the seller continues to be a squatter on the property. The squatter is claiming this is a COVID tenant situation. California passed a regulation that tenants could not be evicted. Of course, this was before the COVID regulation went into effect. And it is not a tenant situation. This is someone who was paid all the money due him.
It appears that someone who is living on a property in California has all the rights and the owner(s) have none.
The agent who handled the sale noted:
“It’s genuinely unfathomable to me that we live in a state where something like this is even possible. They closed escrow on this home January 31, 2020.”
Eviction attorney Dennis Block noted:
“This year alone, we’ve handled at least 7 maybe 8 cases of this exact type of situation.”
Law enforcement has been sympathetic to the Alberts’ plight but under current California regulations there is nothing they can do.
This is the type of situation that the Democrats would like to export to the rest of the country. Essentially it meets the foundational tenet of Marxism, that being that there should not be any property ownership. California has done away with the property rights of individuals. The rule of law has ceased to exist for property owners. This is a direct effect of unconstitutional regulations imposed under the guise of a public health emergency.
What will the communist leadership of the Democratic Party attempt to pass next to further erode the basic liberties we all enjoy?
