The Democrats are at it again. Just as they did during the Obama administration, the IRS has been weaponized to deny tax exempt status to organizations that are Christian and/or conservative in nature. The purpose of such illegal denials is to impede the ability of these organizations to do fund raising.
In this case the spotlight is on actions taken by the Internal Revenue Service against organizations involving Christians, including one specific group called Christians Engaged. Unlike during the Obama administration, which delayed interminably such applications for non-profit status, this time they just denied the application.
The IRS actually put their reasons in writing. According to the IRS, the group’s beliefs about Christianity, the “sanctity of life, the definition of marriage, biblical justice, laws vs. lawlessness, freedom of speech, religious liberty, government and business ethics, human trafficking, fiscal responsibility in government budgeting, defense, borders and immigration, U.S. and Israel relations” all are “typically affiliated with the [Republican] party and candidates.”
Based on this logic, the IRS denied the group’s request for non-profit status. This echoes Lois Lerner’s actions during the Obama administration. Eventually the organizations she attacked reached a settlement with the IRS. The total settlement was in multiple millions of dollars. Perhaps that is why the approach this time was just to deny the application.
Think about this. Christians Engaged was denied non-profit status because they believe in Jesus Christ, in marriage being between a man and a woman, in the free exercise of religion and in free speech. There may be nothing that more clearly identifies the totalitarian nature of the Democratic Party than this. There is no room for “bipartisanship” with such an organization. Simply put, this is a direct attack on the foundational values of America and its constitutional order.
Once news of the denial along with the reasons surfaced, the IRS quickly reversed itself. However, it is clear that, once again, the IRS is up to its old tricks.
The ACLJ has filed an FOIA request into the specifics of how the IRS is targeting groups for denial. It said its demand for information focuses on not only “how Christians Engaged was improperly targeted for its biblical beliefs, but also whether there are other acts of intimidation or other illegal acts that would show there is a larger, more nefarious targeting of Christians festering in the Biden IRS.”
The Democrats will weaponize any government agency that they think will help them remain in power. In 2022 Americans need to tell them loud and clear that this is not okay.
