Stephen Sailer has an interesting piece on the murder rate as evidenced by the FBI’s Uniform Crime Reporting Data. 2020 was a year for the record books. 2020 saw the largest year-over-year change in the number of murders in this country ever.
Sailer notes:
Murders and non-negligent manslaughters were up a record-crushing 29.4%. In the FBI’s expanded homicide data, the black share of known murder offenders increased to a new record of 56.52%.
Keep in mind that blacks represent some 13% to 14% of the population.
The 29.4% increase is double the worst year previously recorded, 1968. That was at a time when there was real disparity in how the different races were treated. The 2020 increase was directly attributable to the stand down position of many Democratic city mayors during the summer of 2020. Criminals are not stupid. The understanding that one will not be held accountable for one’s actions leads to more crimes altogether and more serious crimes as well.
About 85% of all law enforcement agencies (LEA’s) submitted the expanded homicide data. So this leaves out 15% of all LEA’s.
For decades the crime rate had been declining. Then came Ferguson. BLM, which had been birthed out of the self-defense shooting of Trayvon Martin, went on a rampage that was largely unchecked in that area. The media fomented much of this with fake stories about “Hands up, don’t shoot.”
Then came the death of George Floyd from a drug overdose. This was characterized as a police killing by the media. In fact, Officer Chauvin was trying to save Floyd’s life. The media fanned the flames of hatred with doing reporting that ignored the obvious cause of Floyd’s death. This led to an explosion of violence across the country. This violence has wreaked havoc particularly in the low-income neighborhoods in many of our urban areas.
A chart may be instructive.
The horrific increase was created by the Left using BLM as foot soldiers in pursuit of power over the country. The media has been complicit in this as well. The Left does not care about We The People other than to buy votes from them. They do not care about blacks or BLM. If they did, they would do something to help stop the violence. They don’t.
BLM is already being sacrificed on the altar of COVID. Get jabbed or return to your previous status as a second-class citizen. The numbers do not lie. In NYC less than 30% of blacks are among the haves. If you are a have-not, you cannot participate in normal society.
It is time for accountability. Not providing accountability for negative actions enables more bad behavior. Accountability for bad behavior is needed to prevent a further escalation of violence and to bring the curve back down to where it was before Ferguson.
