An Observation On Naziism

1 Comment on An Observation On Naziism

I present this short soliloquy by a commenter on the political scene with only a short comment by me.

Milton Mayer, they thought they were free, was of German descent, an American, and a Jew. After WWII, he very much wanted to understand those issues as well (….how they could have just stood by….etc) and in the foreward of his book published in 1955, he includes these observations which are based on a one year residence-stay in Germany a few years after the war: (emphases are mine)

“….for the first time (I) realized that Nazism was a mass movement and not the tyranny of a diabolical few over helpless millions….

“….now I see a little better how Nazism overcame Germany–not by attack from without or by subversion from within, but with a whoop and a holler. It was what most Germans wanted–or, under pressure of combined reality and illusion, came to want. They wanted it; they got it; and they liked it. (iow, what has happened in New York is because New Yorkers wanted it to happen [or at least, enough New Yorkers wanted it to happen and were able to make it happen; same for Oregon and California])

“I came back home a little afraid for my country (USA), afraid of what it might want, and get, and like, under pressure of combined reality and illusion. I felt–and feel–that it was not German Man that I had met, but Man. He happened to be in Germany under certain conditions. He might be here, under certain conditions. He might, under certain conditions be I (sic).

“If I–and my countrymen–ever succumbed to that concatenation of conditions, no Constitution, no laws, no police, and certainly no army would be able to protect us from harm…..what was said long ago is true: Nations are made not of oak and rock but of men, and as the men are, so will the nations be.”

At this point, our nation is infused with millions and millions of individuals, legal and illegal, who wish this nation ill, who wish its destruction. They are the tinder that has already set our Republic ablaze. A high percentage of those tens of millions are in places of authority with a sitting pResident who is a senile, immoral fool and a useful tool.

And Mayer observations were in 1955.

What we condone we promote. The lack of concrete actions of those that profess to be Patriots and love this country is mere LIP SERVICE. Our lack of action is promoting this insanity.
