President Biden once again displayed that he is a big time racist. After his chief of staff leaked to the press that Justice Breyer was thinking about retiring, Biden doubled down on the fact that he would only consider women of color for the vacancy. This is racism and sexism at its ugliest. It is also against the law.
Of course, this is nothing new for Biden. Biden has repeatedly stated that he uses race and sex as his selection criteria for top government posts. He made that kind of statement again and again during his campaign.
This makes me sick. We should never treat people any differently due to their skin color. That’s evil. Most Americans alive today learned the same thing from our parents and schools. We hate this and find it utterly repulsive.
However, Biden, who supposedly leads the Democratic Party, espouses doing this. The Democratic Party is all in on this approach. These are major steps backward in the evolution of this country. So, for at least the second time in the last decade, we are being treated to an affirmative action pick for the highest court in the land.
Clearly what Biden is saying is that he does not believe that female judges of color are good enough to get to the Supreme Court on their own merits. Just how racist is that? Regardless of the qualifications of whomever he nominates, that judge will be forever tainted as someone who could not attain a seat on the Supreme Court without affirmative action help.
This is disgusting! The Left will call this progress. The reality is that we are regressing as a nation. I am certain that anyone who criticizes the selection will be smeared as racist, sexist, etc. The Left will try to eliminate any serious look at the qualifications of the nominee.
By the way, this is how we got Justice Sotomayor. One was not allowed to dig into her background. She was presented as a centrist judge, one who would carefully weigh the law in making her decisions. Obviously that has not been the case as she has regularly ignored constitutional norms. She has also stated that she is there to represent a specific segment of the population. That is not the function of the Supreme Court. Justices do not have constituencies.
In addition, the idea that Sotomayor is “a wise Latina” is a bit of a stretch. Sotomayor often appears to be ill-prepared. A recent example was when she claimed that 100,000 children were in the hospital in this country with COVID. The real number was less than 4,000 and most of those cases were discovered through routine blood testing upon admission. In other words, the kids were admitted for other reasons.
This week the most important climate case in many years to reach the Supreme Court began. The issue is carbon dioxide regulation (West Virginia v EPA). Justice Sotomayor showed her grasp of science, when she said, “I really wish there was any regulation that eliminated carbon dioxide.”
I am certain that there were many highly qualified Hispanic lawyers, law professors and judges whom Obama could have nominated. It is a shame that the country is saddled with someone who does not appear to have the intellectual abilities needed in a Supreme Court justice.
