Court Of Public Opinion

The Dutchman has an interesting insight into all of the third world antics that the Democrats have been engaging in.

Directing your attention to an article in today’s American Thinker, “Marc Elias lets the cat out of the bag on mar al lago raid” which includes two tweets from the lawfare King.

The tweets cite a regulation spelling out penalties for any government employee that removes alters, mutilates rtc. any government record is guilty of crime, it spells out a sentence, and most crucially, spells out that they can never again hold public office.  The tweets include the relevant statute, you can read it yourself.

The second tweet is the “kicker” as Elias makes it clear they don’t expect a conviction, they are trying the case “in the Court of Public Opinion” and actually believe, against ALL experience, that they will win their case there. 

Concealed Carry classes emphasise the point that there ARE effectively 3 seperate Courts you may face if you use deadly force in self defense; Criminal Court, Civil Court and the Court of Public Opinion.

Even if you survive the first, you may well have to defend yourself in the second, and even if you survive the first two, you may well lose in the third.

The Court of Public opinion does not have written, explicit rules of conduct, does not mandate affording the accused an opportunity for defense, etc.

So much of the attacks against PDJT have been aimed at trying him in this “third Court”; they never intended to prove collusion with Russia, or improper conduct with the “perfect phone call” and things like “he’s a tax evader”, or “racists are fine people” were strictly aimed at this third Court of Public Opinion.

Thing is, in reviewing the record, I can’t think of one such case that THEY have won.

Going with this court analogy on public opinion, there IS an appeals process, and similar to most of the legal cases of PDJT, while they “win” the initial case, they lose “on appeal”, EVERY time.

WHY do they persist in doing the same thing, over and over, expecting different results?

Short answer is they are insane. I would add that engaging in self destructive behavior, and behavior that harms others rounds out the “definition of insanity”, and their behavior meets the fuller definition to a tee.

Beyond that, because they have NOTHING else.

From the escalator ride on, they rightly perceived DJT as an intrinsic, existential threat, and have conducted themselves as someone suddenly confronted a large, carnivorous predator in their home.

What do you do? You run from room to room, you throw objects at it, and, even though none of this “works” you KEEP TRYING, cause you got NOTHING else.

This latest attempt, with Elias foolishly explaining their rationale actually makes this abundantly clear; THEY HAVE NOTHING.

Having the MSM on your ‘side’ yields no benefit, if no one believes the MSM.

And, once “in the court of Public opinion” people actually are convinced everything the MSM says is a lie, the MSM becomes a liability.

Having very tight message control is similarly a double-edged sword. Sure, you want to “present a unified message”, but when you have such tight message control that the message is repeated rote, with the same exact words, it becomes a “tell”.

Another “tell” about who is involved in these attempts to squash dissent in this country is the reactions of high-profile politicians.  There is nothing ambiguous about what is going on here.  The weaponization of government agencies against political opposition is clear to see.  However, we have Republican pols sitting on their hands doing nothing.  These people are either corrupt or unwilling to stand up for what is right and just.

Leaders do what is right regardless of the optics of the moment.  A bunch of Republican Senators have exposed themselves as less than honorable and perhaps as owned by some big pockets donors that hide behind the curtain.
