A Hostile Takeover

For voters with eyes wide open, voting has become a crap shoot.  It appears that all Democrats have converted to taking care of themselves without any regard for the public.  Voting for one puts the entire country at risk.  Voting for someone on the other side of the aisle, in other words a Republican, has its own risks.  Too many in Washington have become UniParty loyalists.  And that is also problematic.  Then there are the social consequences of being identified as a MAGA Republican voter.

If you are outed as a MAGA Republican, social media companies may censor you.  Some companies may fire you.  Way too many people have been targeted by the DOJ and FBI for spurious charges.  Assaults against people who believe in PDJT are legion.  Last week the Avatar in the White House came out and said that MAGA Republicans were a threat to democracy, that they were a threat to the very soul of the nation.

And what do many Republicans elites do in the face of such attempts to vilify more than half the country?  Most Republican Party “leaders” stand back and do nothing as they watch.

Is that about to change?

PDJT is clearly engaged in a hostile takeover of the Republican Party.  A man who never ran for public office before 2015 is now one of the most significant political forces in the country.  And it appears that some elite Republicans are coming out of the closet and supporting PDJT’s approach.

Former Governor of Florida Rick Scott, one of the two Senators from Florida, pushes back against the elite UniParty members of the Republican party.  In particular, he calls out Mitch McConnell for his arrogance and horrible leadership.  And Scott uses the truth to do so.

Senator Scott was one of seven Senators who voted against certifying Pennsylvania’s electoral votes on January 6, 2021.  He is also chairman of the National Republican Senatorial Campaign.  Scott wrote an op-ed that was published in the Washington Examiner.  With this editorial Scott may become as hated within elite Washington circles as Jim DeMint from South Carolina was.

In the op-ed he did a quick review of the disaster that has befallen our country since January 20, 2021.  Scott touched on the porous southern border that almost no longer exists.  He included the massive influx of illegal drugs and the roaring inflation in his review.

He also highlighted America’s current energy dependence as well as the monumental recession that has befallen the country.  And yes, it is monumental.  When you couple a GDP contraction of 1.6% with inflation that is running in the 8% to 10% range, what you get is a 10% to 12% contraction in goods and services consumed.  That’s huge.

Scott finished his review by spotlighting a true epidemic in this country, the unbelievable increase in violent crime.

All of the above could be called standard campaign rhetoric regardless of how true such statements are.  Where Scott deviates from the standard script is what he said next.

Unfortunately, many of the very people responsible for losing the Senate last cycle are now trying to stop us from winning the majority this time by trash-talking our Republican candidates. It’s an amazing act of cowardice, and ultimately, it’s treasonous to the conservative cause. Giving anonymous quotes to help the Washington Post or the New York Times write stories trashing Republicans is the same as working with the Democratic National Committee.

Ultimately, though, when you complain and lament that we have “bad candidates,” what you are really saying is that you have contempt for the voters who chose them. Now we are at the heart of the matter.  Much of Washington’s chattering class disrespects and secretly (or not so secretly) loathes Republican voters.

It is not that “Washington’s chattering class” disrespects and loathes just Republican voters.  They actually disdain any American who will not bow down and kiss their jackboots.  Scott then gets to the heart of the matter.

These self-appointed “smart guys” in Washington think they (not the voters) should be able to choose our candidates. The D.C. crowd should not choose candidates, and they do not, and they will not. The D.C. crowd did not choose me and actively opposed me in 2010 when I ran for governor in the Florida Republican primary. If the D.C. crowd was right, I wouldn’t be in the Senate.

Scott then went on to extol the virtues of the Republican Senatorial candidate field noting that the voters had chosen terrific candidates.

While the media and Washington want to try and tear down our candidates, voters put forward incredible people to serve in the Senate: a world-renowned doctor, a Heisman trophy winner and successful businessman, a small businessman and congressman from a farming community, a bestselling author who has shown the struggles in America from drug addiction, a successful tech entrepreneur, an Iraq War veteran who served two terms as state attorney general, a successful construction company entrepreneur, and a nurse who has fought for change at the VA so our heroes get the care they deserve. These are just a few of our amazing candidates who will win in November.

Scott goes on to predict a win for the Republicans in the Senate.  And Scott makes an interesting statement at the end of his piece.

And when we do, we will be in a position to stop this confused and ridiculous president from further damaging our great country and present a positive agenda that will be good for all of America. As a side benefit, we will be able to ignore the fools who have been trash-talking Republican candidates and Republican voters.  (emphasis added)

Are challenges to Mitch McConnel’s leadership in the Senate on the agenda for the next Congress?  There seems to be an ongoing feud between Peter Thiel and Mitch McConnell over the two Thiel candidates who blew McConnell’s candidates out of the water in the primaries.

Apparently McConnel is trying to starve them and other MAGA candidates of funds.  McConnell’s message seems clear…give me the candidates I want or you do not get any money.

Will other Republican Senators break ranks with McConnell?  Scott proposed an eleven-point plan to campaign on.  McConnell turned it down.  This plan reminds me of Newt Gingrich and his contract with America.

Clicking on the image will bring up the plan.  It is a PDF file and can be downloaded.

This is a plan that needs to be spread far and wide.  The plan needs to be read and embraced by all right-thinking candidates for public office.

It will be interesting to watch this play out.  Before Trump, McConnell was the only game in town for Republicans.  If one crossed him, he would try to destroy that person.  If McConnell follows his old habits that may drive more Senators into the MAGA coalition sooner than would have happened otherwise.  That would be good for the country.

Another factor in this battle will definitely be the all out war that the Demo-Communists have declared on anyone who supports the idea of America as a free country with the individual right of self-determination.  Will RINO’s recognize at long last that they are marked for extinction?

Is the dam starting to crack in Washington?
