Don Surber had a couple of interesting articles recently. In one he noted that the Ukrainian war was a foregone conclusion once the coup had been successfully navigated. Why? Because crooks always pay off their benefactors (and keep some for themselves). In the other Don talks about panic within the ranks of the Democrats over the impending elections. These two issues are inextricably tied together.
Paying off your donors is a way of life in Washington. Two specific items during the very short period of Biden’s reign gave a windfall to the military industrial complex. The first was Afghanistan. Surber noted:
The laying down of arms in Afghanistan not only armed the Taliban but served the military-industrial complex that President Eisenhower warned us against. Depleting America’s stock of war materiel means a spending spree for DoD, which in turn means more generals will be hired by defense contractors when they retire. Everyone wins.
Except those who die in Afghanistan at the hands of the Taliban. Or people in other countries who die because the Taliban sold weapons to them.
Then there is the war in Ukraine. One could argue about who started it. Go here to get one take. Regardless of who started it, we are sustaining it, escalating it. And again, the military-industrial-political complex is benefitting. And we the American taxpayers are on the hook paying for it.
The Nord Stream sabotage required sophisticated military hardware to accomplish. The actual operatives may not have been American, but the okay to do this had to come from Washington.
Surber reports:
We are financing this war. Nearly two-thirds of the aid comes from the USA, which borrows money to give to one of the most corrupt governments on Earth. Zelensky got a private meeting with 200 members of Congress (including senators) in March. That is better than any American lobbyist ever got. The public has no idea what he promised them.
Standing with Ukraine is popular now because it is the perfect virtue signal. There is no sacrifice made. No one dares question why a nation that is supposed to serve as a neutral buffer between NATO and Russia is now a client state of the USA.
Republicans are signaling that they will no longer provide blank checks to Ukraine if they control the House. This reflects the growing feeling in the country that we should not be involved in Ukraine.
This has caused a seismic shift within the Democratic ranks. WaPo reports:
“Liberals urge Biden to rethink Ukraine strategy. Democrat lawmakers’ letter calls for direct U.S. talks with Russia.
“A group of 30 House liberals is urging President Biden to dramatically shift his strategy on the Ukraine war and pursue direct negotiations with Russia, the first time prominent members of his own party have pushed him to change his approach to Ukraine.
“The letter, sent to the White House on Monday and obtained by The Washington Post, could create more pressure on Biden as he tries to sustain domestic support for the war effort, at a time when the region is heading into a potentially difficult winter and Republicans are threatening to cut aid to Ukraine if they retake Congress.”
Here’s a couple of facts. This is a proxy war that Ukraine is involved with. Its purpose was to weaken Russia. That does not appear to be happening. If America stopped providing aid, the war would be over tomorrow.
The administration has framed the whole enterprise as a confrontation between totalitarianism and democracy. This has been a sham from the get-go. The democratically elected President of Ukraine was overthrown by the CIA in 2014 during the Obama administration. Zelenskyy abolished all political parties in Ukraine at the start of the war. He confiscated all monies belonging to opposition parties and even jailed some opposition leaders if they were not sufficiently loyal to him. Putin has more accountability in Russia to his people than Zelenskyy has in Ukraine.
Zelenskyy wanted to end the war in the spring. He was overruled by the globalists. Now it appears that the war will only end when Ukraine is no longer a viable entity as a country.
The Ukraine situation that has continually been escalated by the globalists was supposed to be an issue that America would rally around. So was abortion. Now with less than two weeks to go before the election, with early voting underway in most states, the Democrats are panicking. Neither of these issues have risen to the top of concerns among the voters.
Don Surber noted:
The Washington Post reported, “Democrats fear the midterm map is slipping away.
“Polls in both the House and Senate show improvements for Republicans amid economic and crime concerns.”
The story centered on the Washington 3rd Congressional District race between Republican Joe Kent and Democrat Marie Gluesenkamp Perez. Real Clear Politics lists the race as Likely Republican.
WaPo said, “Perez is a symbol of the Democrat struggles, fighting in a margin-of-error race against exactly the kind of ultra-MAGA candidate Democrats have elevated this year — Republican Joe Kent, who denies the outcome of the 2020 election, argues U.S. Capitol rioters have been mistreated and wants a moratorium on all legal immigration. But Democrats in Washington have not yet been able to invest directly in her race, as they play defense elsewhere on far less favorable issues.
“‘Anybody in the real world is very concerned about crime, very concerned about the price of groceries,’ said Perez, whose own auto-repair shop, in northeast Portland, has been broken into four times in the last year.
The real world is biting the Democrats. The Democrats spent enormous amounts of money and energy trying to say that killing unborn children at any stage of pregnancy is ok. The public is not buying it. Big Media has been unable to move the needle on this issue.
What does matter is the economy and crime. The Democrats have created the economic mess we are in. Rampant crime in our urban centers is a direct result of policies put in place by Democratic leadership. The public is coming to recognize this despite the best efforts of the media.
Surber goes on:
And they are not just any old Republicans.
A panicked LA Times reported, “The House won’t merely be held by Republicans. It will be led by Republicans loyal to former President Trump, many of whom refuse to accept Biden’s legitimacy as president.
“Most members of the new majority will have been elected with Trump’s endorsement. There will be almost no Trump critics in the House GOP — none who dare voice their qualms, at least. The caucus has been purged.
Is the grifters’ game about to end?
