Democrats Threaten Supreme Court

Republicans are accusing the Department of Justice of “actively” seeking to “dissuade” the U.S. Marshals Service from enforcing 18 USC 1507 to protect the Supreme Court justices.  In addition, Democratic senators are attempting to leverage the Supreme Court budget in exchange for an enforceable ethics code.

During a Senate Judiciary hearing on Supreme Court ethics reform, Sens. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, and Josh Hawley, R-Mo., tore into their Democratic colleagues for “threatening to cut off the funding for the security at the Supreme Court,” as Cruz said.

“The Left is willing to threaten the lives of the justices,” said the Texas senator. “This is disgraceful.”

Senator Hawley was more direct in his statements.  “The threat is, ‘We will deny you security, unless you do what we want.” he said. “We had an assassin come to the home of Justice [Brett] Kavanaugh and try to murder him. We have had credible threats on the lives of other justices. And now members of this body say ‘We will deny you security for you, your families, your children, unless you do what we want.’”

The problem for the Democrats is simple and straight forward.  With a majority of justices who believe in the Constitution, the Democrats have been cut off from legislating from the bench.  If they want a change in the laws of the land, they have to vote for such a change publicly.  This exposes them to backlash from the public when they try to advance communist ideas, ideas that take away the rights and freedoms that all Americans enjoy.

Since the administration of FDR, the Court had a majority of justices who did legislate from the bench.  That ended with the Trump administration when he appointed three constitutionalist judges to the court.  Now Democrats want to bring the Court back under its control by making the Court answerable to Congress on recusals and ethics allegations.  This violates the separation of powers that is a bedrock principle of our governing structure.

“The Supreme Court should have a code of ethics to govern the conduct of its members, and its refusal to adopt such standards has contributed to eroding public confidence in the highest court in the land,” said Sen. Chris Van Hollen, D-Md.

Incorrect, Senator.  Any erosion in the public confidence in the Court is a direct result of the smear attacks by Democratic politicians.  When was the last confirmation hearing of a constitutional justice conducted without the wild hysterics of Democratic Senators and their Antifa shock troops?

The kind of tactics engaged in by the Left are those utilized by every totalitarian regime in history.  Delegitimize and smear anything in the way.  When this has been sufficiently accomplished, destroy the institution and replace it with something more compliant.

The Democrats are not fooling anyone.
