FEMA

On Tuesday FEMA head Dianne Criswell complained that “misinformation” is starting to take a toll on the Helene disaster relief effort in the southeast.  This comes as Milton, another huge storm, is headed for the US mainland.

Whether Criswell is an incompetent DEI hire is unknown.  However, it appears that Criswell is trying to deflect attention from the absolutely horrible job that FEMA has been doing.  On example jumps to the forefront.  On Wednesday, a cargo plane loaded with thousands of cases of water landed in Asheville NC.  The media spun this story as a great accomplishment that showed just how well FEMA was doing their job.

The problem?  A competent agency would have had this water being delivered on Saturday.  People would not have had to wait an extra four days to receive much needed water.

It was claimed that many falsehoods about the relief effort can be traced back to the Republican campaign for President.  The supposedly false claim was that FEMA money was being diverted to illegal immigrants.

The problem?  The claim is not false.  It is a fact that more than a billion dollars of FEMA money has been used to “resettle” illegal aliens.  Now the agency is claiming that they do not have enough money to do their job in disaster relief.

So, this “misinformation” is creating problems for FEMA.  Criswell noted, “It’s creating distrust in the federal government.”   Why is this surprising?  When FEMA’s mission is compromised to help illegal aliens first, Americans are going to get pissed when you do not do your job competently.  This is compounded when FEMA cries poverty while Americans are stranded in the hills of WNC.

These statements by Criswell are designed to redirect the public’s attention form the lousy job FEMA is doing.  This was amplified when they decided to include Elon Musk in the list of people who were making false claims about the job the Feds were doing.

The problem?  Musk’s claims were not false.  Starlink is a robust system that could bring digital communications to the disaster area.  Musk offered the systems for free.

In a series of explosive posts on X, the furious billionaire CEO revealed that his SpaceX engineers, who are on the ground providing vital communications and supplies via Starlink technology, are being blocked by FEMA from delivering lifesaving resources to victims in Asheville and surrounding areas.

According to Musk, SpaceX has already powered up two large operating bases for helicopters to deliver goods into the hands of those in desperate need.

They’ve deployed more than 300 Starlink terminals, which are critical in restoring communication for disaster-stricken communities. But instead of support, Musk claims FEMA has been nothing but a roadblock.

Musk even shared a video taken by his team on the ground showing the devastation—roads washed out, homes destroyed, and electricity, water, and internet connections completely down. Despite this dire situation, FEMA continues to block their efforts to deliver vital aid.

Fact checks by Big Media have done little to quell the spreading information about the lack of a coordinated response by FEMA.  The reason here is that the people on the ground know differently.  Put another way, the people on the ground are telling the truth about the current state of affairs.  The interests of FEMA are antithetical to the truth, so they label the truth “disinformation.”  This response is orders of magnitude worse than the Katrina response.

One eatery in WNC served 6000 meals for free last week.  The food was donated by local charities and was cooked by the eatery.  This was done without any help from FEMA.

Here are the facts.  Almost all help is being done by private citizens.  Private helicopters are flying in the vast majority of supplies.  Local sheriffs are telling people to defend their property from looters by whatever means they have.  WROL (Without Rule of Law) is happening in some areas.  This means looting, robbing, etc.

Then there is this little gem.

This is not misinformation.  The people on the ground are not spreading lies.  Just who these people were is unknown.  Local law enforcement is attempting to find out.  Was their transponder turned off?

The entire government response is enclosed in a famous quote from President Reagan.  The nine most terrifying words in the English language.

“I’m from the government and I’m here to help.”
