A raid last week on the Glenn Valley Foods meatpacking facility in Omaha, Nebraska resulted in the arrest of nearly half of the workforce by immigration agents. Of over 100 employees who were initially targeted, some 76 were eventually detained.
The civil search warrant that was used noted that fake IDs, fraudulent IDs, or some type of combination of IDs that weren’t real” among workers at the facility were the basis for the raid.
According to news reports, Glenn Valley Foods owner Gary Rohwer said he used the government’s E-Verify system to check the status of his employees. Rohwer claimed he was deceived by those who used stolen identities.
A federal agent noted that Rohwer was indeed a “victim” of workers presenting fraudulent documents. No charges were planned against the owner.
The wokeistas in the press broadcast that the city would be in turmoil. “There would be no recovery from this.” The plant’s owner said he had no plan for going forward. Elsewhere in the city, the local community college closed early on the day of the raid. As the week progressed, construction sites and other workplaces were described as desolate.
The PR arm of the Democratic Party painted this as something that would crush the economy of the country if the deportation of illegal aliens continued. According to them, these jobs are jobs that no American would do. So, we needed illegals to do them.
So, what happened? Is Omaha now a dying city?
So, Americans will do these jobs. Was the whole point of the open borders scam to drive Americans and legal immigrants out of jobs that illegals would do for a lot less money? Until the 1990’s meatpacking wages were comparable to those middle-class wages in other industries like auto and steel. How much money were the owners of these operations making by doing this?
Do the politicians who support illegal migration benefit from ignoring the law? Any politician who turned a blind eye to what was going on with the open borders scam was not representing the best interests of Americans. Politicians like Newsom of California and Mayor Bass of Los Angeles and others need to retire from public life.
