Illegal Immigration

In the 2005 Compendium of the Catechism, an abridgment authorized by Pope Benedict XVI, paragraph 409 teaches: “The most complete realization of the common good is found in those political communities which defend and promote the good of their citizens … without forgetting the universal good of the entire human family.”

What does this paragraph say about illegal immigration?  While it acknowledges the need of a small minority of people to escape the risk of death and/or violence in their locale, this teaching implies that the primary duty of government is to its own citizens.  During his first term, PDJT gave a speech to the EU where he reminded the leaders there that their first obligation as leaders of their country was to their own citizens.

The chaos that was intentionally created at our own borders by the Biden administration was not good for America nor was it a universal good for the human family.  During a congressional hearing in 2024, Jessica Vaughn of the Center for Immigration Studies noted:

“And the expansion of illicit border-crossing opportunities has led to the abuse and exploitation of migrants on a mass scale and an explosion in human trafficking, including luring children into forced labor and worse. It has greatly damaged the integrity of our immigration system and exposed Americans to new national security and public safety threats.”

Can there be any doubt about this statement?  We have been hearing for years of the horror stories of illegal activities by these invaders which include, murder, rape, sex trafficking, etc.

Who benefits from this activity?  Certainly employers looking for cheap labor did.  Also NGO’s who enjoyed lucrative contracts for handling illegals.  And yes, this includes various religious organizations such as the US Council of Catholic Bishops and various Protestant sects.  The people in the pews may not have known this but the church leaders certainly did.

But the biggest beneficiaries of this open borders policy were the Mexican cartels.  During the Biden administration the cartels were making profits of $30 million a day.  In other words, the cartels were making more money from human trafficking than they were from drugs.

Certainly this situation represented a serious threat to the rule of law not only in Mexico but also in America.  The Biden administration’s border policies worked great…for the cartels.

What about the kids who crossed the border during this foolhardy “catch-and-release” program of the Biden administration?  Todd Bensman noted:

“Policies that created special rights for people who cross the border with children naturally elevated the value of children.  Any parent with more than one found they could defray thousands of dollars in smuggling costs to get the whole family in … so long as the biological parents didn’t mind taking some risk with the kids they’d rent out.”

It is not known where some 300,000 kids are today who crossed the border during this time.  There are many cases of parents unable to locate their children after they crossed the border.  And this says nothing about the sexual exploitation of them and many female adults who were illegally trafficked into the US.

The recent ICE raid on a cannabis farm in California garnered much angst from Democrats who decried the raid.  This particular raid recovered 10 children who were apparently engaged in slave labor on the farm.  And Democrats defended this.  But then the Democrats have always been in favor of slavery.

The Biden administration created a multi-billion-dollar industry for criminals.  This is not unlike what happened during Prohibition when the banning of alcohol via a constitutional amendment helped to foster lawlessness and direct monies to criminal organizations.  The difference here is that the government has been an active participant in this situation.

All of this is significantly harmful for both Americans and foreign nationals.  The organizations benefitting from this are able to buy influence, weapons from the obscene flow of cash into their coffers.  The publication of who is benefitting is the only way to stiffen the spine of our legislators to stop ignoring the depravity that is going on.
