The result of Friday’s meeting in Alaska is clear. If the war continues, the responsibility for that will be Ukraine’s President Zelenskyy
According to all the “experts” in the media, Putin strong-armed Trump. Putin pulled the wool over his eyes and is bamboozling Trump. Special envoy Steve Witkoff went on the State of the Union with Jake Tapper. Despite Big Media’s repeated attempts to paint Russia as an evil monster and that Trump had sold out Ukraine, Witkoff surprised Tapper by telling him that significant concessions had been agreed to by Russia.
Tapper regained his footing and tried to make it seem like that Trump had failed since no ceasefire had been agreed to. As Witkoff pointed out, items that might typically be discussed during a ceasefire period were ironed out on Friday. Going directly to a peace deal seems possible.
The Article 5 like guarantee is a big point here. That Russia agreed to this is a clear sign that Russia is serious about ending the war.
Monday’s meeting at the White House should send a better signal about the potential to end this madness. Let’s be reminded that if the war ends, Zelenskyy’s wife will no longer be able to spend American taxpayer dollars in upscale boutiques in Paris. Also, EU President Ursula von der Leyen must be concerned about the effect on Europe’s economy if the war ends.
Currently Germany, the EU’s largest economy is mired in a recession. Germany needs the war to keep their economy from further sinking. There are many other entities that benefit from continuing the war.
Can the interests of the Ukrainian people come out on the top of the list? Just who is representing them? It is certainly not President Zelenskyy or Ursula von der Leyen.
