Last week, Big Media was besides themselves shrieking “dictator!” and “coup in DC!” PDJT has ordered the National Guard onto the streets of DC to help with the out-of-control crime that exists there. DC’s murder rate is 4 times the national average. Other violent crime is also out of control. In fact, Washington’s violent crime rate is higher than some of the most dangerous places in the world.
Democrats and their liberal media propagandists have characterized President Trump’s activation of the D.C. National Guard and federal takeover of the Metropolitan Police Department as “tyranny” and other inflammatory terms. Local officials have called the move “unsettling and unprecedented” and “a historic assault on D.C. home rule.”
Let’s see now. Just how long has DC had “home rule?” Home rule was established by Congress in 1974. Prior to that DC was governed by the Federal Government because the Constitution defined DC as a federal district. How has “home rule” worked out for DC?
DC has gone from being one of the safer cities in the country to one of the most dangerous. Who has ruled DC during this descent into anarchy? The Democrats. And who is attacking the attempt to make the city safer? The Democrats. Apparently public safety is not something that the Democrats pay any attention to unless it means votes.
The NYTimes jumped into the discussion by publishing two far left opinions that called for the military to “stand up to Trump.” Really this is the headline of the piece. They expect that military officers would disobey a lawful order from their commander-in chief just because the NYTimes does not like what is being done. They said that such officers should take “inspiration from the generals…Mark Milley and James Mattis…”. Of course, such inspiration ignores the fact that Milley’s actions could well fall into the bailiwick of treason.
The NYTimes later backpedaled claiming the piece did not say what it said.
Why are the Democrats so intent on defending criminals? Because that is just what they are doing.
Sean Davis, CEO of the Federalist, has this to say:
“I think one thing Democrats are concerned about is if Donald Trump is able to clean up D.C., certainly if he’s able to do it under 30 days, then it shows that there’s no excuse for these other cities like L.A. and Chicago and Detroit and Philadelphia to be crime-ridden hellscapes. It shows that that is a choice deliberately made by the Democrats who run those cities and that’s the last thing Democrats want, is for people to see that safety is a choice and it’s a choice Democrats are refusing to make.”
What were the results of the first week of federalizing DC law enforcement? Carjackings are down 83% since federal control was enacted, while robberies dropped 46%. These numbers are not typos. An 83% reduction in carjackings is accurate. The same with robberies. Violent crime fell 22%.
Of course, these numbers mean nothing to the rich, white people who live in the suburbs around Washington. Since Trump did this, it must be bad. They can never admit that the home rule policies have killed thousands of black people in DC.
But, they can protest. Did we have a million-man march in DC protesting Trump’s actions? No, of course not. How about a hundred thousand? Nope. How about a thousand? No again. A couple hundred showed up. And some of them were paid protesters. Here’s picture.
What does one notice? This ragged group of a couple hundred are very white. The black people in DC who are benefitting from Trump’s decision are nowhere to be found. Just who are the protesters?

GPS—there were 318 mobile devices present, including law enforcement and media. 92% have been present at 5 or more past DC protests.
67 appear to likely be federal government employees, with their mobile devices accessing both keycard required garages and federal buildings, including the Department of Defense, Department of Veterans Affairs, Department of Homeland Security, Department of Justice, FBI and Department of the Treasury.
Additionally, 9 of these mobile devices accessed the White House via the Northwest Gate located on Pennsylvania Avenue NW, across from Lafayette Square, 3 or more times in the past 30 days.
Most are local residents of the DMV—with 86.7% of devices spending evenings in a home worth $850,000+ and 34% in homes worth over $2.5 million.
These protesters want to “Free DC.” Exactly what they are freeing DC from is unclear. Are they trying to free DC from being as safe as nearby white communities? As Sean Davis noted, safe black communities threaten the chaos of crime that empowers Democrats. FDR talked about freedom from fear. Trump is delivering it.
Trump has done it again. Trump has the Democrats and other leftists defending the indefensible. Who would have thought that the Democrats would come out opposed to reducing the crime rate. But, here we are.
