Shutdown

The federal government began to shut down at 12 a.m. on Wednesday as lawmakers failed to resolve a dispute over spending, leading to the first lapse in funding in nearly seven years.  The House had passed a continuing resolution bill that would have kept the government open but the Democrats in the Senate torpedoed the bill.

The Democrats, led by Chuck Schumer (NY) want to expand spending by a trillion dollars.  They also want illegal aliens to be included in government healthcare benefits.  They are demanding that boys be allowed to play in girls sports.  All of this is a non-starter for this administration who has been given a mandate to reduce federal spending and return normalcy to American lives.

So, it appears that the Democrats (unwittingly, of course) are contributing to federal government austerity.  According to the internal memoranda [SEE HERE], OMB Director Russ Vought is planning for a large-scale reduction in force (RIF), with many of the federal employees released being terminated permanently.  It is clear that the shutdown will most likely expedite the downsizing that the American people want.

In 2017, Charles Payne interviewed President Trump’s Budget Team to discuss the Balanced Budget Proposal submitted by the President to the Ryan and McConnell Controlled Congress.  McConnell and Ryan said the proposal was “politically unfeasible”.

A huge part of the reductions found by the President’s Team was outright redundancy.  Much of this has been confirmed by DOGE this year.  Specifically DOGE identified:

  • Redundancy
  • Inactive Projects
  • Inactive Budget lines still being funded
  • Fraud, Waste and Abuse
  • Pork Projects serving no purpose

Plus, the President’s Team exposed that there is an AUTOMATIC 10%+ INCREASE written into most funding lines.  These AUTO Increases are then preserved by the Continuing Resolutions (CR’s) we have seen the last 17 YEARS.  We got all of this via Nancy Pelosi in 2008 and a compliant Republican Party.  America has not had a real appropriations process in all those years.

It is time to re-establish that process.  It is also time to slim down the government further.  Let’s see just how many people notice there is reduced government services.
