In 2015, the Obama White House awarded Tom Homan the Presidential Rank Award. President Obama bestowed the award himself. That’s the highest honor a federal employee can get. The official citation praised him for removing 920,000 people in three years.
Was Homan Director of ICE when this happened? No. Homan was Executive Associate Director of Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO), the branch of ICE responsible for identifying, arresting and deporting illegal aliens. President Trump elevated Homan to acting Director of ICE in January 2021.
How did the media view Homan’s work then? CNN loved it. In May 2016, they sent a reporter to ride along with ICE in Chicago. 3 a.m. raids. Arrests at workplaces. Deportation processing. The segment was called ‘A Day with ICE in a Sanctuary City.’ They called it an ‘exclusive access’. Like it was a privilege to watch. No screaming. No riots. No Nazi comparison. If CNN loved it, you know the rest of Big Media was not far behind. BTW Obama holds the record (409,000) for deportations in one year. Much of this was due to Tom Homan.
Fast forward to now. Let’s be reminded that this is the same agency, same Tom Homan, fewer deportations (290,000). The focus is on removing violent criminals, murderers, rapists, sex traffickers, drug cartels. These represent some 70+% of all deportations.
What is the Democratic position on this now? Governor Tampon Tim Walz: called ICE “a modern-day Gestapo.” Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker: “We’re becoming a Nazi Germany.” Congressman Larson called them the “SS.” CNN is running panels asking if ICE is literally Trump’s secret police.
What is different today? In 2025 we had fewer deportations than in 2015. Due to an influx of violent criminal aliens, we had seen a staggering increase in crime. ICE’s activities have resulted in significant reductions in such crimes wherever ICE has showed up.
Because of the astroturf outrage, assaults on ICE officers are up 1,300%. People trying to ram them with cars: up 3,200%. Death threats up 8000%.
Why this disparity? Is it just because the President has a different letter after his name? I understand the political manipulation that leads otherwise intelligent people to succumb to the brainwashing. But, don’t these people want safe places to raise their family? How does one get people who choose blindness to see the truth?
Karl Marx wrote that Communism is about disrupting norms and overthrowing them. The primary structures are religion, history, family, truth, and national pride. The Democratic Party has been taken over by people who believe in Communism. Use that lens to look at what you’re seeing in Minnesota and other sanctuary areas across America.
What we are seeing is a civil war against America as it was founded. It is a civil war against life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. The Communists are trying to create outrage to cause enough people to rise up and destroy the freedoms that America is famous for. Socialism/communism has never worked anywhere that it has been tried. 100 million+ people died during the last century because of communism/socialism.
Are there other factors playing into the insurrection that we are witnessing in Minnesota and elsewhere? Certainly, the epic levels of fraud that appear to have been facilitated by local governments are one such factor. In Minnesota alone some $9 billion in fraudulent activity has been identified. There are many other states with significant problems in this area. Is this why certain government officials in Minnesota have been so virulently opposed to ICE’s activities?
There are many factors to consider to understand the dynamics at work. Despite this, public declarations of intent to interfere with federal officers executing lawful duties crosses directly into obstruction of justice and conspiracy to impede federal functions under federal criminal statutes.
It is time for some perp walks.
