If we want our country to remain a bastion of liberty, voter ID is a requirement.
What is the SAVE Act? The Safeguard American Voter Eligibility Act, also known as the SAVE Act, is a proposed United States law that would amend the National Voter Registration Act of 1993 to require “documentary proof of United States citizenship” to register to vote. The purpose of the act is to prevent non-citizens from voting.
As evidence continues to pile up showing huge corruption of the voting process, particularly but not exclusively in blue states, the requirement that voting be limited to those who are citizens is just a common-sense requirement. Requiring an ID to vote is just another such common-sense requirement.
The usual culprits are calling such requirements as racist and designed to disenfranchise millions of eligible voters. The reality is the bill would disenfranchise those who have been cheating the system.
The hypocrisy of those opposing these requirements is legendary. Take Georgia’s Senator Jon Ossoff, a prime example of the left’s double standards on election integrity.
This guy has been railing against voter ID laws and the SAVE Act, calling them “nakedly partisan” schemes designed to “disenfranchise millions of eligible voters.” He claims requiring proof of identity at the polls is some sinister plot to suppress votes. Such claims fail in the face of reality. Where voter ID requirements are a reality, participation in elections has actually risen not declined.
Let’s be reminded, when it comes to his own campaign events, Ossoff demands a government-issued ID at the door! You can’t make this stuff up—it’s straight out of the liberal playbook: rules for thee, but not for me.
The overwhelming majority of Americans, over 80%, see it as common sense to ensure that only citizens vote. Why do Democrats oppose this? Why are Democrats once again on the wrong side of a 80/20 issue?
The answer is simple: power. As Missouri Senator Eric Schmitt pointed out on Fox News, Democrats like Ossoff are terrified of fair elections because their grip on seats in swing states like Georgia relies on lax rules that open the floodgates to fraud.
The SAVE Act, threatens their ability to pad the rolls with illegal immigrants and non-citizens. This hypocrisy isn’t just laughable; it’s dangerous. If ID is good enough for boarding a plane, buying booze, or attending a Democrat fundraiser, why on earth isn’t it required to safeguard the act of voting?
It is time for Americans to demand that their elected representatives get behind such a common-sense requirement as the SAVE Act.
