Isolation During Trying Times

Alinsky Rule 13. “Pick the target, freeze it, personalize it, and polarize it.” Cut off the support network and isolate the target from sympathy. Go after people and not institutions; people hurt faster than institutions.

Does this sound familiar?  We are seeing this played out hundreds, no thousands of times across the country.  Someone says “All lives matter.”  People storm his/her residence.  “Protesters” force the employer to get rid of that person.  A public official is forced to resign because of some remark that is twisted out of shape.  A picture is taken that appears to show something that isn’t there.  That person is fired from his job.  The mob comes after the person’s spouse or parent or child.  Acquaintances shun you or worse yet, label you with some convenient shaming label.

Hillsdale College Takes A Stand

Comments Off on Hillsdale College Takes A Stand

Hillsdale College is one of an exceedingly small number of colleges that does not take federal money of any kind.  As highlighted on their website, they offer an education “designed to equip human beings for self-government.”  They teach that “freedom can only last if you and I choose to act as people of character.”  They do this without bowing down to demands from our federal government of what a college education should be.

Founded in 1844 by Baptists, Hillsdale is a non-sectarian institution whose teachings are “informed by Christianity’s moral teachings.”  Its founders were abolitionists and feminists so the college has admitted blacks and women since its founding.

The Long Gray Line

With Joe Biden’s recent statements regarding the military removing PDJT from office, concerns have surfaced that Biden’s statements were a “dog whistle” to members of the military who owe their positions to former President Obama.  Some have suggested that it is nearing time to have the military remove PDJT from office.

As preposterous as this may sound, this was followed up by a letter, penned by an anonymous author, to the graduating class at West Point.  The letter attacked PDJT as commander-in-chief and others within the military structure as failing to uphold their oaths.  It was intended to sow discord within the ranks.  Some might perceive this as an invitation to mutiny.

Sanity

Percentages of transgenders in the US population vary from 0.3% to 0.6%.  One of the lesser misadventures of the Obama administration was the forcing of schools to accept all kinds of regulations concerning transgenders.  The privacy rights of 99+% of the school age population were trampled to “protect” the rights of transgenders.  Schools were forced to allow biological males to use single sex facilities devoted to girls such as bathrooms, locker rooms and showers.  This was often done secretly without the parents’ knowledge.

A lesser known aspect of these policies was the forcing of girls’ sports to accept males as competitors.  Since the advent of Title IX in 1972 — a federal law that expanded athletic and educational opportunities for women — millions of girls and women have benefited from their own teams and chances for growth.  As anyone with an ounce of common sense understands, once puberty hits, female athletes cannot compete with male athletes.  Allowing biological males into female sports destroys the opportunities for girls to excel.

When Will Oberlin College Own Up To Its Mistakes?

Comments Off on When Will Oberlin College Own Up To Its Mistakes?

Oberlin College continues to play the victim card.  After the massive $11 million compensatory and $33 million punitive damage verdicts (later reduced to $25 million under Ohio tort reform caps) against it for defaming Gibson’s Bakery and its owners, Oberlin College should have looked at its own conduct in nearly destroying a 135-year-old family business. One would think a unanimous verdict and a large punitive damage award would cause some reflection on the college’s part in the hopes of rectifying clearly immoral and illegal conduct.

One would be wrong, of course.  From the moment the initial verdict was handed down by the jury, Oberlin College has attempted to portray itself as the victim.  The college says that it was held liable for the speech of its students.

William Jacobson, who writes for Legal Insurrection, represented the only national media outlet to be present throughout the trial.  The day the verdict was handed down he predicted that the college would not take responsibility and he was right.

No More Catholic, Jewish, Lutheran, etc, Schools

What will be the next move by Democrats to denigrate and diminish private school education, particularly religious schools, both Catholic and Jewish?

Judge Kavanaugh’s high school Georgetown Prep was defamed and slandered during the Judge’s confirmation process.  Based on the hearings one would believe that all that ever went on there was drunkenness, orgies, and a lack of respect for people in general and women in particular. The MSM tried to paint the school as indifferent to the activities of its students.  While the main purpose was defame Brett Kavanaugh, if a side effect was the diminishing the education provided there, that was fine with the Democrats. ...
