Over the weekend America was treated to another example of the Nazi-like tactics employed by the Democrats and their supporters against Republican lawmakers. Several supporters (paid?) of the Democrats decided to harass Senate Majority leader Mitch McConnell in a restaurant in Louisville. They banged on his table with their fists, threw food out into the street and screamed obscenities at the Republican leader and his wife.
This is the same act we have seen before with others like Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen, Texas Sen. Ted Cruz, White House spokeswoman Sarah Sanders, former EPA chief Scott Pruitt and many others. Pruitt resigned from his position due to the continual death threats against his family.
This is all part of the Democratic Party playbook. Character assassination, harassment, intimidation and assault seem to be the only approach that they have to governing. Assaults are becoming more commonplace. Recently two Republican candidates were assaulted in Minnesota.
Jack Crowe over at National Review relayed Mitch McConnell’s and Rand Paul’s concerns.
“Only one side was happy to play host to this toxic fringe behavior,” McConnell said Thursday. “Only one side’s leaders are now openly calling for more of it. They haven’t seen enough. They want more. And I’m afraid this is only Phase One of the meltdown.”
Asked about Senator Cory Booker’s (D., N.J.) urging his constituents to “get up in the face of” politicians they disagree with, Senator Rand Paul (R., Ky.) said the statement could be misinterpreted by the mentally ill.
“I think what people need to realize, that when people like Cory Booker say, ‘Get up in their face,’ he may think that that’s OK,” said Paul, who was present when Representative Steve Scalise (R., La.) was shot during a practice for the annual congressional baseball game last year. “But what he doesn’t realize is that for about every 1,000th person that might want to get up in your face, one of them is going to be unstable enough to commit violence.”
Mob violence is becoming more commonplace. If you are the wrong identity group, you may be literally taking your life into your own hands if you drive into certain areas of downtown Portland, Oregon. The militant wing of the Democratic Party, Antifa, along with Black Lives Matter have taken over streets there and are harassing anyone who they think does not agree with them. Vehicles have been damaged and senior citizens harassed. This kind of activity is not limited to Portland.
The Democrats have employed character assassination as a weapon of choice. As we saw during the recent Judiciary Committee hearings, unsubstantiated accusations of sexual misconduct against men have become the new norm. Men with stellar records in public service have been smeared and their families attacked.
As Alexander Markovsky at American Thinker noted:
DO NOT LOOK AWAY. This is the ugly truth. This is the new normal for the Democratic Party. And apparently if they do not return to power on November 6th, we have been promised by Democratic elites that such actions will continue to escalate.
Maybe things are changing. In Louisville over the weekend other diners confronted the Democratic screamers. And the idiots fled, leaving a mess.
Is the public is fed up with this act? Or is this a one off? If the public begins to stand up against these actions, how many more of these incidents will there be? If the leftists cannot make themselves out to be heroic via the MSM due to the instantaneous posting of these activities to the Internet, will they continue? If they are shown to be fascists and bullies, will their bubble burst? Time will tell.
