Political correctness is the bane of right thinking people. In reality PC is a form of censorship. By not allowing certain forms of speech, the left hopes to control people’s thinking in a very specific way. And that is what PC is. It is training people’s thinking. Thinking outside the box is discouraged as being evil in some way.
For example, opposition to the open borders policies of the Democrats will quickly get one labeled as a bigot, racist, etc., among left wing types. They will call you a hater of women and children. The sole purpose of such activity is to suppress any dissent from the Democratic policy goals. Any discussion of the real facts will be labeled as lies and propaganda. Such attempts at espousing real facts will quickly earn you the title of deplorable.
Another way that the left tries to control people’s thought patterns is by the use of specific terms in media reporting. Let’s take the difference between the term “protest” as opposed to the term “riot.”
A commonly accepted definition of a riot would be a form of civil disorder. It is characterized by violent public disturbance against authority, property and/or people. Riots typically involve theft, vandalism, looting and destruction of property. The property targeted can include shops, cars, restaurants and state-owned institutions. Individuals may be targeted as well.
On the other hand the definition of protest would be bearing witness on behalf of an express cause by words and/or peaceful actions. Protests can take many different forms, from individual statements to mass demonstrations. Such activities are, by definition, supposed to be non-violent.
After the 2016 election of PDJT, “protests” broke out in multiple cities across the country. While a few were actually protests, most should have been characterized by the term riots.
In most cases the so-called “protests” quickly turned ugly. The result was violent attacks against innocent citizens and police, rioting and looting, and setting fires. Some of this violence was directed against people who expressed support for the President.
How was this reported in the MSM? While in other countries the press reported riots, it was difficult to find any description here where such activities were accurately described as rioting. In almost all cases they were referred to as protests.
Yet riots are exactly what they were. The idea here is to associate the non-violent idea of protests with the activities which actually occurred. This is an attempt to legitimize in the minds of the public violence by the left against those who think differently.
There is a clear attempt by the left and their pals in the MSM to legitimize violence in the pursuit of the left’s policy goals. This needs to be called out as such every time that it happens. Attempts to de-sensitize the public to political violence must be opposed whenever and wherever it occurs. Failure to learn from history can lead to the same thing happening here as happened in Germany in the 1930’s.
