The Michael Flynn case becomes more and more curious. Last week the judge overseeing the case took the unusual step of directing the DOJ to produce specific notes, docs, etc. on the case. The DOJ has backed away from asking for any jail time for the process crime of lying to the FBI that General Flynn is supposed to have committed.
Flynn was an outspoken critic of President Obama’s Middle East policy that included the rise of ISIS. Obama had pretended that ISIS was inconsequential (“The analogy we use around here sometimes, and I think is accurate, is if a J.V. team puts on Lakers uniforms, that doesn’t make them Kobe Bryant,”).
Flynn was one of PDJT’s transition team who was illegally unmasked in intelligence reports by members of the Obama administration for political purposes. That purpose, of course, was to derail the election of President Trump and then undermine his administration.
So going after Flynn, in particular, may have been retaliation for the political sin of opposing the policies of the Obama administration. However, then Acting FBI Director Andrew McCabe had a past with Flynn. This may have played into his targeting as well.
As noted by Circa News:
This sounds like motive to most people. So was Flynn targeted by McCabe because of this? Where were the Democrats in support of a female FBI agent who was discriminated against? Is this why the DOJ wants the case to disappear from the public’s radar?
It will be interesting to see where this goes.
